Rip ray. Didnt really no him and have spoken to him in the past though came across asa decent guy.. How old was he? He always looked fit and well..

RIP Ray enjoyed your posts as they were positive and considered. I was at the Eric Morecambe statue when you were pictured. We have lost a true gashead from our unique family and I write this with tears in my eyes. Thoughts with your family at this very sad time RIP fella.

Followed Rovers home and away with Ray, Brian and Phil for many years, only stopping when I started to take my lads down. He was a good laugh and a decent bloke who was always optimistic about the Rovers.
Last conversation I had with him was at the Hartlepool game where he gleefully stated he couldn't believe how well things were going.

I had know Ray for about 40 years, not as a close friend but having played cricket with him at Bristol United Banks CC for 3 or 4 years and then playing against him for Old Down CC. BUBCC was his other great sporting love and his support for the club along with the likes of Terry Trollope, Paul Fairman, Mike Pearson, Barry Channon, Chris Lamb, his brother Brian and many others was a privilege to experience as a young player.
Saw Ray often on the terraces, in the WSE and away from home, recall chatting to him briefly in the Three Pigeons at Halifax last season. Often bumped into him by the Pasty hut at the bottom of the WSE or in the toilet at half time. Real Gashead, top guy & big family man but I will always remember him for his commitment and love of Bristol Rovers and Bristol United Banks CC.
Now hope we can finish the job this season for Ray. RIP Gashead! You will be missed.

Ummm this is very hard reading all of these comments but just wanted to let people know that I am a Ray's daughter and I just want people to know that my family are very thankful for everyone support with what has happen it doesn't feel right that he isn't here anymore and gas chat meant a lot to Ray and he would always speak about it to me. It been a very hard these past few days but with everyone support it has help me a lot to get through it. Ray was a massive gas head and shows that to everyone he met he would always say that the gas are going up and would always be singing all of the songs randomly.

Hi everyone We do not really want to post this. Our hearts are broken and our lives shattered forever but because of my love for Ray and our Children I have to tell you that Ray's Funeral is on Monday 18th April and will be held at St Johns in Keynsham at 2.30pm followed by his cremation at Westerleigh Crematorium at 3.30pm. Some of our lovely Friends are arranging Ray's After Party so details to follow. Your support has and is vital to us now and after so please feel free to come and see us anytime, it is our comfort and we are so so grateful. Ray is the best Husband, Dad, SuperDad and Grandand to us  ? and we are going to do this Spearing Style mixed with Bristol Rovers so please if you wish - wear Blue and White to support Ray's passion or even Red and White - Ray loved the banter. Bring a balloon in blue or white if you wish as we will be setting some free for Ray ? That is from my mum ? |
