Which would you prefer Oxford - Cambridge A Crawley A Luton H Newport A Hartlepool H Carlisle A Wycombe H Bristol Rovers - Carlisle A Crawley H Northampton A Yeovil H Stevenage A Exeter H York A Dagenham H Plymouth - York H Exeter A Wimbledon H Portsmouth A Leyton Orient A Dagenham H Cambridge A Hartlepool H Accrington - Newport A Cambridge H Luton A Morecombe H Hartlepool A York H Wycombe A Stevenage H Portsmouth - Wimbledon A Carlisle H Dagenham A Plymouth H York A Wycombe H Hartlepool A Northampton H Wycombe - Notts County A Wimbledon H York A Barnet H Yeovil H Portsmouth A Accrington H Leyton Orient - Hartlepool H York A Barnet A Dagenham H Plymouth H Wimbledon A Mansfield H Yeovil A
I would say that Oxford just have the edge with those fixtures so will take some overtaking but the interesting thing for me is that for Luton, Cambridge and Wycombe to get in the Play offs they will all need to win most of their games and they all play Oxford. Next to us, Luton are the in form team. Plymouth have tough games at Exeter Portsmouth and Leyton Orient . The Portsmouth v Plymouth game could have huge significance to us. Accrington could hold the biggest threat to us and I believe they have the easiest fixture list with Luton their most difficult game. Portsmouth seem to have a relatively easy run in but have to catch up 5 points on us so win two games more than us and interestingly have Northampton last game of the season. After Mondays games it will be interesting to relook at these fixtures!!

As I posted on the "predicator" thread last night Oxford failing to beat lowly Stevenage was a surprised if they now fail to win at Cambridge, who will want to bounce back from yesterday's hammering, they could find the chasing pack breathing down their necks come 5 tomorrow. Then they play form team Luton who no doubt will have a large away following.
We could do with Newport doing us a favour at home to Accrington on Monday as that looks the easiest of their remaining away games, plus the Dons at least holding Pompey to a draw in the televised Monday game.

I just added up the current points totals of all the teams left to play (eg, Carlisle 54 plus Crawley 47, etc) and divided the total by the number of games left to play. And it really doesn't show anything much, except you could say perhaps the team with the lowest score has a vaguely easier run-in, maybe.

I suspect you add up all the points that the opponents of each of the teams featured have and divide that by the number of opponents they have. So Oxford have seven games left, add the points each of their opponents have and divide by seven. What it shows is that Accrington's opponents have the least number of points on average and Portsmouth's the most. I suspect that the poster is saying that that implies Accrington have, on paper, the easiest run in us second easiest etc. Not really that difficult a concept to grasp. Whether, of course, you think it is a valid hypothesis is another question.

Interestingly, Oxford have not won in their last 6 home games since we beat them 2-1 at The Kassam back in January.
I really believe we are going to get 2nd spot.
We are on fire at the moment and scoring for fun, we have got momentum and have hit top form at the right time.

Agreed, and I can see us dropping out of the top 3 on Monday, and it not doing us any harm. Our last 5 fixtures are a big advantage to us. 4 points from our next 3, followed by 3 wins and a draw from our last 5 is a conservative estimate, and would leave us on 82 points. Portsmouth are going to have a big problem catching us, and have harder fixtures. A better goal difference means that a 5 point gain on us would be enough, but even if we only managed 4 wins and two draws, they would need 6 wins from their last 8 games, or 5 wins and 2 draws. So for me, it's a 4 way battle and I fancy our chances with both Oxford and Plymouth stuttering. 5 wins and a draw should take us over the line, with 84 points (2 points a game). With our fixtures, that is certainly realistic.

All ifs, buts and maybes, every season there are trips and falls in the run in.
If you ask me it's more about the mental strength and form if your own team. At the moment we are just fine. Let's hope it stays that way.

Plymouth have what I think are three hard games. Portsmouth, wycombe and orient. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost two of those.

Looking at those fixtures Accrington have a hell of a chance to finish 2nd with Oxford 3rd. That could leave Rovers, Plymouth, Portsmouth, and Luton in the play offs, Wembley could well be a sell out who ever is there. Lets hope we keep going and Accrington and Oxford slip up

Oxford, apart from struggling Plymouth, have the worse current form in the top 5, having won 2, drawn 2, lost 1 in their last 5 games. Plus they have the distraction of the JPT Final and also, subject to the appeal outcome, lost one their regular first team players for 2 league games due to suspension.

Nail biting finish, don't you just love the buzz about the club at the moment. I wouldn't bet against us finishing third.

We will win all our games except away draws at Carlisle and Northampton, and T bone will run naked on the pitch showing his two new tattoos on his bottom one matte T and the other Darrell, clueless!
