Any thoughts? Seems bizarre to sack Pennock on the eve virtually of the playoffs. A new manager couldn't really have any influence now. Perhaps Vince is gonna do it himself! Probably in keeping with a plastic club though.

If there is any justice Grimsby or any of the former league clubs in the mix will come up this year via the playoffs., not the likes of FGR or Eastliegh as no matter how much money is binged at them they will never be proper clubs with proper supporters!

Seems slightly bizzare to sack him at this stage in a season when your team are nailed on to be in the playoffs. Suppose pennock has paid the price for spending lots and not winning automatic promotion! The owner seems a bit batty as well!!!!

Seems to reveal some sort of megolamania in the owner. I ask because, let's be realistic, we just might be playing them next season. Hope not.....

I don't think they'll come up, would take a hell of a manager to sort that shambles out in a week or two. Far more likely is Dover in my opinion (not joking), consistent and in good form at the moment.

Any thoughts? Seems bizarre to sack Pennock on the eve virtually of the playoffs. A new manager couldn't really have any influence now. Perhaps Vince is gonna do it himself! Probably in keeping with a plastic club though. the other way of looking at it is that it was the perfect time to sack him and not have any real consequences from it. no win in 7 matches suggested they had run out of ideas / puff, and would most probably lose the play-offs with him in charge (cf. last season in play-offs vs us; didn't put up much of a fight did they, especially after taking 4 points from the league games). if that happened, Vince would have to either back him (again) or sack him and be accused of doing it too late. If pennock somehow did manage to blunder to an accidental promotion, FGR would then be stuck with him and they would probably tank in Lge 2, and Vince would get criticised. The new guy might just be able to motivate them, or luck out, or pull a masterstroke, and get them to Wembley, and maybe promotion... If he fails then he's got the perfect excuse and everyone will give him a season to see what he can do. win-win for Dale Vince, even if they lose. I always said they'd go no-where with him in charge. Dale Vince is a great guy in may ways, but a lousy football analyst. Pennock is a dinosaur. And a dinosaur at a progressive club was always very weird in my eyes.

Exactly what I said yesterday, although not sure if he's got a criminal record.

I see its touch and go as to whether tranmere can sneak into the last playoff spot. They need to win and hope the team above loses. If it was tranmere against FGR in the playoff semis I'd probably actually watch those games.

It's baffling how FGR have suddenly run out of steam having chased Cheltenham so strongly all season, I guess, as MM sugggests, Pennock was always going to lose the Play offs now so Vince has nothing to lose, but everything to win.
If we're in Div 2 next season I'd sooner we played FGR than Dover or Braintree as it's at least two local derbies, which are surely more interesting than playing the other two teams?

if it wasnt for the fact that we have played them in 4 competitive matches last season, would we be hoping that FGR get promoted this season. Being a local non league club i always checked in on their results as they rose through the non league pyramid. For some reason though I now hope that they have reached their ceiling and start heading back down. Does us no favours having another FL team just north of bristol.

Yeah, always had a soft spot for them, until they became our rivals.

It's hardly effecting our attendances? Given Vince has plans to spend millions on a new ground I doubt they've reached their ceiling.

The tragedy is that we fell far enough for them to be rivals
