So did I. Curious Northampton apparently not resisting it. No ambition? Or pressing money problems?

I think the statement on their website said they had a clause in their contract so they couldn't turn down the approach. I hope there is no such clause in DC's contract! Would hope that if any team in our league however big they are would be told where to go if they made any approach.

Let DC carry on with the Gas. I'm quite sure he will get a good contract for the next couple of seasons. That is until England come calling, as I believe he's a candidate as a future England manager. My thoughts exactly. I have totally forgiven the Clueless One for taking my club to the hell hole that was non league football. Bloody well done Mr Clarke. Onwards and upwards.Up the Gas.

But are Northampton much better? Limited crowd potential & the past might catch up with them. Didn't Wilder play for Charlton? Thought I heard Curbishley say he'd had him there.

I would set him a ground breaking goal of champions of league one and reward him accordingly. That should do it. Stretching goal.....

For starters the ones amoungst us with short, stubby noses;those who can't see further past it. They need educating that a bad patch of results doesn't mean Darrel is out of his depth and has taken us as far as he can and the sack! Just remember where we were two seasons ago and where we are now. I can't see any other problems ahead, not even a so called bigger club as Darrel is an astute man going places and realises he has time on his side to progress as he is and with us. If we are comfortable in League one after a season or so maybe he will say' onto bigger challenges' but..... God forbid we are around 16th in November. Then the idiots will be out in force. Just the thought makes me cringe. great post, so true

i think this thread is valid,if a championship team come in for him then we might well lose him, maybe not every club in that division but most and his stock is very high right now.

Who's up for going to the training ground before the start of next season and posting a hundred flyers with DC gas legend on em? This is a seriously good idea.

Darrell's done all the hardest work, suffered the pain, put in the groundwork, and partly due to his good work, and partly due to a bit of lucky timing, he's now in a brilliant position to reap the rewards of the last three years. He'd be nuts to leave now, imo, leaving the job half done. It would be like getting off your wife half way through and going to make some cheese on toast.
Although, to be fair, we've all done that.
