Loans are not the answer but as a newly promoted side they may fill the gap until a fuller squad of a quality good enough for league one is established. Let's welcome all the new lads and wish them a good season at BRFC.
It's good that all the players will now have to produce the goods or step aside.
Expect the chelsea CB to start the next game alongside Hartley and Lockyer. The John Terry replacement isn't here to watch from the sidelines.

What a joke these signings are!
Why the f**k didn't we spend a fee on a completely random player for the sake of it at the start of the window?!

If it is right that we can only name five loanees in a match day squad then we have to leave one in the stands every game. I suppose that will most likely be James or Roberts, Roos has leapfrogged Puddy even if he and Mildy still need to resolve the no.1 spot. Boateng is the holding midfielder we've been tracking and the two Chelsea lads look to have qualities we've said we have been lacking (pace at the back, culture and legs in midfield). Interesting to see how DC juggles these resources.
He might have to let Steve Yates loose on a few in training so that they are out injured rather than dissatisfied at being dropped!

Its good to see rovers getting these type of guys on season long loans, clearly we now have better contacts within the club and probably a better reputation with our new board, sadly we cant go splashing millions like the teds, but if we improve slowly over the next few years then maybe a bristol derby within three or four years. keep the faith. It's not just the reputation of these guys that makes them sound so promising in my view, it's the reputation that Darrell has earned for prizing some things more highly than money. It's fairly well-established now that he has no time for hurling large sums of cash at players - regardless of whether we can afford it or not - and all the time in the world for talented players willing to fight for the shirt. It's nice to think that there's a good chance that the new guys will step out on to the pitch with something approaching the same passion and commitment to the club that we see in Stewie and the rest of the lads.

Having supported Rovers since the early 70's I have to say these are the best quality group of loanees I can remember.
Changes to the transfer window has meant a new approach and we have done very well, our performance at the bridge has really helped us. Chelsea fans believe these loans are an excellent move for their two youngsters.
Add in Swansea and Crystal Palace and we are a club really going in the right direction!!

OTIB:
On the other hand. Millions upon millions spent, tens of millions of debt having to be wrote off every year by daddy, Bristol Sport FC, they don't own "their" stadium, selling their best player to Championship rivals, despite stating they won't, and still a club that yo-yo between the Championship and League One.
I honestly don't understand why they think they're so high and mighty.

The parent club need their young players to play in men's football where something is at stake and with a decent sized passionate support. Playing technical youth games on training grounds only develop players to a certain degree. Being with us will be a whole new experience for these lads, and will knock them into shape. We are doing Chelsea as much of a favour as them us. There's no chance we will ever keep these 2 lads, but we may be in with a chance with Boetang, Roberts and Roos.

So how do we fit these lads in then. I'd definitely give the wing backs system another chance having pretty much lost faith in it. With 2 quality (we hope) midfielders to put in, a pacey left footed defender and a new wing back who won all if his clubs player of the season awards last time round we could look completely different with this system.
Or I like the look of a diamond shape in the midfield with Boateng holding, Lines and Colkett in the middle and Easter at the top. With a back four and Taylor and Harrison up front. Could also work too but not something DC has done a lot.
Both options leave little room for wingers however which leaves Bodin, Monty and Moore in the dark...
We have over a week to blood them in to the team now and get it right for Rochdale, whatever happens I'm pretty pleased with today, despite no permanent signings. Great to get good links with top prem sides too.

Rovers have certainly moved on, remember Gow, Gillespie and Kaid Mohamaed. We have certainly moved on as you say and these are good signings. But I thought Gow was ok and it was his injury and no call back for Eliot Richards from Exeter that left us short. With Gow perhaps we might not...... All in past and these new signings, albeit on loan, are certainly a step up for us. UTG!

Evidently erecting something more substantial than a temporary structure in a ground that's going to abandoned for a new stadium sooner or later anyway is what passes for common sense in South Bristol! A healthier and more respectful attitude to money is what can leave one club proud of it's history - relegation, grotty grottos and all - while avoiding financial ruin, when another has to rip off local businesses to survive and forever has to dodge all mention of 1982. Give me the tent any day!

I suspect you are right with regards to the chelsea pair, but it used to be commonplace certainly for lower league clubs to have an arrangement fee paid
