A pre-season match/tour to Jordan in 2017?
I went to Jordan for my 65th birthday in 2013 and had the most enjoyable holiday visiting Amman, Petra, Wadi Desert and the Dead Sea, all in a private taxi. It was perfectly safe and the hotels had remnants of British rule, UK 3 pin sockets in all the older hotels.
I'm sure Wael could arrange discounted travel and hotels.

Very nice chap and he knows how to behave, I don't doubt that he is very very wealthy but he spends it wisely. A pleasure to have him at Rovers, we are very lucky and I can only guess by the fact he loved the price of the club that nobody ( Mr Higgs ) made millions from it either. Happy Days

Exactly what caught my eye at first too, so there were actual other consortiums/consortia? Good read though and just further reaffirms what I thought of him/them.

A v. good article which surely should be repeated on the OS but I wonder what NH will think when he read this “You would be amazed at how much value we got”?? Surprised Wael sees this as his new career and he thinks he can make a profit out of investing in the club, as I always thought he saw it more as a side line/hobby to his main investment bank role not his main job. Although how many football club owners make a profit from running a football club, particularly if they've got to invest the sums Wael will need to invest/secure if Rovers are going to build the UWE etc?

Premier league clubs can make profits from the huge sums they earn, so that must be were we are heading

"You would be amazed at the value we got'
Seems as if Higgs perhaps doesn't deserve a lot of the criticism he gets and got on here. This suggests he did put the FC before himself.

A good find Lulworth and a very interesting read. Re-enforces my already pretty high opinion of Wael.

Nothing new here.
NH had always said that numerous people expressed an interest in BRFC stretching back over the last 3+ years but the majority never got to the stage of showing any financial assets to buy the club.
I am only aware of one who had such assets and to be honest they took far to long to provide the evidence that NH/TW wanted and at the end even I lost faith in them.
Still that's all water under the bridge and we have to trust Wael to move the club forward. So far it looks promising.

Thought this was an interesting sentence.
I read that as the price of the club being to pay off debts which I guess included directors loans.
If correct I think Higgs and co did the right thing as it implies they got nothing for their share holding other than repayment of loans .....
Of course they may of had little choice by the point they sold, but no doubt they could have walked with more money by realising the asset value of the Mem.

True. And thinking about it, I remember at the AGM a year or so ago, Geoff Dunford asked Higgs how many confidentiality agreements he had in place. It was a leading question and Higgs knew it, but was happy to answer '12'.

Must be the first time Wael and DC haven't totally agreed on something - Wael is quoted as saying that working under pressure is no a good idea and DC's recently been quoted as saying he wants his players to be under pressure and puts a lot of pressure on himself.
Nevertheless its good to see some sense about it all in print. Of course it is better to have academy facilities that will encourage several promising prospects to come to the club than blow it on one or two marquee signings who might just get crocked before they realise anything like the value you put on them.

Once they walked and UWE couldn't then be financed they had to cut their losses and run, as they could hardly sell the Mem and make Rovers homeless.

Perhaps there are semantics in play here. Pressure put on you to perform by someone else, usually the owner/manager can be counter-productive and fear can be the result. pressure you put on yourself to perform is good pressure because it's something you want and therefore positive. DC is a man manager, I'm sure he creates the situation where his staff and players want to improve. He has always said that he puts pressure on himself to improve. I'm sure Wael is astute enough to know that all he has to do is provide the environment for the manager to succeed, Darrell will do the rest.
