Clears up the reason that March was quoted last night. Didn't think it would relate to the Cribbs site but didn't know we had a lease at Golden Hill.

Pleased with this - a lot of Championship clubs are Cat 2 and it would increase our ability to stop kids being poached by Southampton at Bath etc.
Not cheap to maintain either, so fair play those at the top.

The suggestions last night was that it was in the Almondsbury/Thornbury area, assuming there's some truth in that then the only suitable land seems to be the GFA land/old Almondsbuy Town site, as surely the pitches must already laid/in use if we're moving in by March? if it's not N Bristol then back to the school pitches in Failland? Personally I'm surprised we're spending millions on a training ground before we've put pen to paper on a new stadium.

I am very interested in Wael's comments that Jordan has good youngsters that have the ability at a young age but are unable to develop further because of lack of coaching / standard over there. I get the feeling we may see a few join our youth - certainly an untapped market. Although surely work permits etc would be a nightmare?

In the article SH says "I was at the site on Thursday with people who clear and prepare ground for the laying of playing surfaces. ..' so it sounds like it will be brand new pitches on uncleared land. In any case they can lay a pitch in a few weeks these days.

I just get the feeling this may be a joint venture between us and the Jordan FA/Prince Ali.... Its going to cost £m to build/develop to lvl 2 standard with all the infer structure required

I have heard it is at the bottom of Hortham Lane, Almondsbury, down by the bridge crossing over the M5.

If it is wouldn't we need pp before we could put a training ground on green belt land? "The Local Planning Authorithy is South Gloucestershire District Council. The land lies within the designated Green Belt. All planning enquiries should be directed to South Gloucestershire Council on 01454 868004" Perhaps I'm missing something but how are the club going to buy a piece of land, get pp and then lay new pitches by March? it could take 2 years just to get pp if residents objected, which surely they will in that area of S Glos?

A training base is just a few pitches plus a smallish building for storage and reception, and a smallish car park. Should be dead easy, even on green belt. If its the land in Almondsbury that people are suggesting, there are already fields and a few small buildings there.
So hardly any change of use. Football pitches are green fields!

Just being realistic regardling this plot of land, surely you'll appreciate where I'm coming from given your S Glos planning dept connections?

It wouldn't involve large numbers of people coming and going, an improvement to the asthetics (currently a few football pitches and a pig farm next to the M5), no access issues...

29 acres is a fair chunk of land though, the equivalent of about 15 full size pitches could fit in.
