First game of the season for me and what a great game to go to!
Roos- 8. Couldn't do anything about the goals and some excellent handling under pressure second half. Brown- 7. Poor distribution first half. Solid. Lockyer- 6. Dreadful error for their first goal and shaky for rest half. Got better second half. Hartley-7. Extra mark for the goal. Roberts-7. Another one with a shaky first half and skewed a few clearances. Confidence improved after the break. Sinclair- 6. Good battling as per usual. Few moments of real quality going forward. Clarke- 5. Anonymous really. Tried a few Hollywood passes which didn't really come off. Lines-7. Mark off for error which led to their second goal but thought he was outstanding second half brilliant driving runs past their midfield who couldn't keep up with him. Colkett- 8. Didn't even know he was playing first half as no one would pass him the ball. Excellent second half with a god and an assist. Clever player. Harrison- 7. Thought he battled incredibly hard with terrible service first half. Very little understanding with Gaffney which is understandable but they needed to play closer together. Impressed with how he competed in the air against two experienced centre halfs. Had one cleared off the line. Gaffney- 8. MOTM. Superb performance especially second half. He led their centre halfs a merry dance and they were petrified every time he got the ball! Scored but could have had 2 more!
Subs Moore- 7. Changed the game with pace and direct running. Bodin- 6. Looked lively but didn't come off for him. Taylor- 7. Dangerous.
Clarke- 9. Subs changed the game. Too negative with his starting line up.
Northampton- 5. Terrible. Ref- 3

Roos 7 his good handling and speed to the ball was evident yesterday. Turning into a great signing.
Roberts 6 steady game looks composed on the ball. Works well under pressure. Lockyer 5 Very shaky from Tom improved second half but mistake lead to first goal. Hartley 7 won everything in the air and notched again. Would like hime to be captain to help out Tom atm. Brown 6 much better second half, linked up well going forward as game went on.
Sinclair 6 battled, ran, but little quality going forward. Lines 7.5 half a mark off for their second goal. He drove us forward every opportunity with quality runs and passing. Colkett 8.5 sublime passing and positional awareness. Great free kick and super goal to win it. Assist for Hartley as well from corner. O. Clarke 5 not really in the game, needs to find consistency to stay on the bus.
Harrison 6 tried hard but lacked service. Not his best game but he really does well against physical defenders. Gaffney 9 MOTM a constant threat with his runs. Gave their defence a torrid afternoon and got a well deserved goal. Unlucky not to score another due to a great save.
Subs: Moore 7 great impact ran well with the ball. Bodin 5 lacked quality Taylor 7 quality impact really help to stretch game.
Crowd 8 Refs 2 missed 2 handball penalty's for us. Very inept performance. Northampton 5 We had them blowing out their asses last 10 mins well organised going forward.

My own opinions from the games:
Roos 7.5 No chance for the goals but pulled off one really good save in the second half
Roberts 7 Look assured enough but needed Lockyer 5.5 Caught out horribly for the first goal and never got to grips with Revell Hartley 7 Wasn't troubled too often but yet again showed his threat at set pieces Brown 6.5 Can't remember him doing too much to be honest
Sinclair 6 Kept possession in the first half but struggled to do too much with it Lines 6 Drove forward well but a sloppy pass led to their second Colkett 8.5 Great range of passing and picked out some great balls. As much as we know that Hartley is good in the air, it was Colkett who dropped it straight onto his head. Thought he was starting to tire towards the end but then he popped up with that cool finish. O. Clarke 6 Same as Sinclair really.
Harrison 7 Won some balls in the air early on but was isolated after that Gaffney 8 His best performance of the season. His link-up play was good and he won his battles with their defence.
Subs: Moore 6.5 Wasn't in the game much but offers a counter-attacking threat Bodin 5.5 Still not up to level of last season. Missed a chance from an almost identical position to Colkett's winner. Taylor 6 Held onto the ball well at the end
Crowd 8 Good banter with the Northampton crowd over the two Taylors and John-Joe Refs 4 Between them they made some bad calls but both yellows for Zakuani were soft Northampton 6 Started solidly enough but were overrun in the end

If ever there was a game of two half this was the one, amazed people are giving Gafney MOM after his first half, though i do think he needs more match time to improve;
Roos 7.5 Roberts 7 Brown 7 Hartley 7 Lockyer 6 Sinclair 7 O Clarke 6 Lines 6.5 Colkett 7.5 Gaffney 7 Harrison 7
Bodin 6.5 Moore 7.5 Taylor 7
Ref 4 Crowd 5 first half, 9 second, 7 overall! DC 10 Cobblers 6

Results in and Rory Gaffney was Man of the Match just edging out Charlie Colkett. Colkett's score of 7.86 on his full debut was the second highest in the last three seasons behind... Rory Gaffney (8.00 at Exeter). Northampton got a rating of 5.6. In the same fixture last season they were rated as 7.5 Not much else to report on this week, if you haven't already check out the season statistics here: Season StatsRoos 7.4 Roberts 6.9 Lockyer 5.9 Hartley 7.0 Brown 6.8 Sinclair 5.9 Lines 6.9 Colkett 7.86 O.
