Of the countries with the highest per capita consumption of alcohol in the world, 9 the top 10 are from the old Soviet bloc.
They must still be celebrating their freedom from the yoke of communist tyranny.

Christopher Lee was the only Lord of the Rings actor to meet Tolkien in person. Lee's war record is interesting to say the least, suggestion of times with the Yugoslav Partisans. Something he refused to talk about and took it to his grave.

When a person cries and the 1st drop of tears come from the right eye it's happiness. If it comes from the left eye it's pain. I wonder why this is always why DC is rubbing his right eye, is it because he's so happy and about to cry?

UY Scuti has been named the largest star in the Galaxy, it is a red super giant and has a volume nearly 5 billion times that of our sun.

The English language consists of about 25% of words originating from French, largely brought over by the Normans. The Normans were actually of Scandinavian decent, Normans being a version of Norsemen.
The language started to show a class divide, for example when a pig is covered in muck it is called a pig (English) but when it was on the dinner plate of the rulers it reverted to the French Pork (from porcine).

Following on from my post yesterday, the term County derived from the Count being appointed to administer them by the Normans. Prior to 1066 the administrator was an Earl and the area was known as a Shire.

The Korean War was the first conflict where Black and White Americans fought in the same combat units. Before, Black Americans would be in supporting units or in Black only units officered by White Americans.

The moon is now 12 feet 4 inches further away from the earth than it was 100 years ago. Well, that explains why I've been feeling colder.

The children's' TV show, The Clangers, does actually have a script and is not just random swanney whistle noises. If you listen carefully, you can sometimes make out the "words".
