Hope your Mum is ok Baggins. I collapsed with an irregular heartbeat in 2012 and almost didn't make it. I "died" when I got to hospital and they tried four times with the defibrillator but in the end drugs pulled me through. It was a bit emotional seeing my family again. Just come away from seeing her in Southmead (boy, that's a parking nightmare), she's had her toast, sat up, chatting, tests ongoing, will be in over the weekend with an angiogram? planned for Monday. Glad you pulled through mate, a frightening experience, for everyone!

The worst thing for me was I was supposed to have my op two months after but they cancelled it as they found more work to do, said it would be a month later but waited a year. Halfway through the op they had to stop and it was another year until they did it properly. There was a slight relapse a year later but this this year I feel back to normal, whatever that is. Just put weight on sitting or lying around so much. following Rovers wasn't easy. The first game that season was Oxford at home 8 days after my collapse. don't know how I made it through some games but only missed one match due to my health then and none since, even going away again every now and then. Your Mum will most probably be home Tuesday. They do like to get you home as soon as possible. Pamper her more than you normally do and she'll get through it a lot more easily. Good luck to you all.

Can I just get this, put that over there, clean that up for me, I fancy this for dinner, thank God for staff!!!

Do you live in the West Wing, the East Wing, or one of the cottages on the estate?

Angiogram this afternoon so fingers crossed. Can't see her being home much before Wednesday but she's ok. Thanks for asking Mate.

Update. Mother had op yesterday to fit 2 stemps? in the heart to open up a few arteries. Saw her this morning, she's very upbeat and recovering well. Surgeon extremely happy and said if all goes well today, she can come home tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone who wished her well, means a lot.

I've got a couple of them Stent thingys. What was amazing about the procedure is that you're awake while they do it. They enter through a small cut in the groin, and then work up the main arteries. I could actually watch them doing it on the big tv monitors next to the bed I was on !

Amazes me that within 36 hours you're well enough to go home. To reiterate, the nursing and doctor staff have been unbelievable, can't thank them enough.

I've now had two procedures, and both times they went in via the groin. I also believe that to fit a pacemaker now they go in from the back, and it's just a one-day job.

I had my work done in Germany.......and guess what, nearly all of the staff were non-Germans, so pretty much like the NHS !

Sorry for my ignorance Nobby, but does Germany operate a NHS system of sorts? Yes and no. You have to have Health Insurance. You can have a private policy or be insured via the government insurance. The amount you pay is based on your earnings for the government policy. Obviously, if you are unemployed, then in effect it is free. Private insurance is more expensive. All hospitals are private, as are the Doctors/GP's.

Bags - But how have you been coping when your poor Mum has been in hospital? Have you been walking around with your shoe laces undone? Who tucked your shirt in every morning?
