It's happened before I'm sure. Didn't Liverpool sort of do the same thing to arsenal when they tried to get Suarez because arsenal knew the buy out clause before putting in their offer so Liverpool could decline it

So it really was just £300k then. I believe that was the amount stated for the Sell Out Clause...but that was just the purchase price. I think they also had to 'buy out' his contract....say 4k a week for another 18 months. Plus, the low purchase price meant that the snakes agent could demand a larger signing-on fee, let's say 500k. This would bring the total cost of the signing to around the 1m mark, plus the cost of his 2.5 year contract with the sh1t. It is just my opinion of course, and not based on any facts. I reckon the large signing-on fee was also the reason other Championship clubs were not interested.

I've never heard of this with transfers before. The only time I've heard of it is when managers move clubs and the new club has to pay compensation for the remainder of his previous contract.

Who knows what clauses are inserted into a contract ! While the snakes agent may have insisted on the release clause, Rovers may have insisted on the contract buy-out clause.

Taylor has gone. I think it's time we let it go and concentrated on supporting the players that have chosen to stay with us. We likely need 4 wins to retain our league one status and we have enough goals in the team, without Taylor, to comfortably achieve that. I doubt we will make the play offs but I don't think that relegation is an issue.
I'm not happy that he's gone and I'm not impressed by the timing and the way it was conducted. However, he has a short remaining football career and he needs to look out for his family. If today someone offered me 3 times my wages to do the same job for a different company I would be handing in my notice this evening. I have worked for the sane company for 32 year's and my loyalty has never been rewarded whereas people I worked with 20 years ago now earn more money cos they were prepared to play the employment merry-go-round and moved for a bit of a pay rise every time.
It is his choice of new club that has caused the problem. All this hatred towards him is not so much that he has gone, or done us over with the release clause cos that was always going to happen at some point. That's why DC signed Luke James in the first place. If he had gone to any other club we would have been annoyed/miffed/angry and probably wishing him well. But few people would be wishing him to break his leg next week or have a serious career ending injury.
In an earlier post on this thread I hoped that he turned out to be a flop but that is due to him now playing for the sh**, not cos I hate the bloke for leaving and taking control of his future finances. I certainly don't wish him to get injured.
I read "money grabbing w**ker", "Judas", "hope he breaks his leg" but are we just overreacting a bit and raising reaction levels purely down to the one unforgiveable decision he made which was to join the sh**? Can't we just ridicule him for that and hope that he doesn't manage to aid the sh** in any footballing way, rather than hoping his career ends soon and he can't feed his family.
PS, if he scores against us next season, my pasty will be the first that gets thrown at him.
This is just my opinion but I guess I might get slaughtered for it.

Bit surprised by that as he has cut down the theatrics a lot in his time with us.Maybe the 82 coaching staff encourage it.

Certainly not cut out the theatrics, less than one minute of highlights on Sky today and Taylor falls over on the penalty spot claiming a foul!

Surely this thread is no longer Rovers related, and should be moved by the mods?
