To be honest, it has felt like game over for more than a year now. Hold up after hold up, appeal after appeal. It is the slow realisation that we will always be a nothing football club. It could have been so different with UWE.

Absolutely devastated. I guess that NH released this story as the pressure from fans must have been pushing him to the edge. After all the legal wrangling the one thing that none of us would have foreseen is this. Sainsbury's can well and truly go forth and multiply. Yes, I do wonder about the timing as well. Seems strange it is just after a positive display. Maybe hoping we would be a bit more sympathetic than after getting hammered by some part timers.

Whatever happens now there is no chance that building will start for at least a year. If Sainsburys lose they will probably appeal.

Looks to me like sains think they have found a way to walk away from the contract and this will be a sh1t or bust legal view of whether they can or not. Sadly contract may have been based on planning permission and any reasonable adjustments to conditions imposed, not just the core permission to build which gives them the loophole to hold out to get that changed or walk away. To my eyes restrictions on delivery times in a residential area doesn't sound surprising or unreasonable so hopefully we have a good case. Let's hope it's resolved quickly as uncertainty is killing us all

£29 mill is not a lot of money to Sainsburys. I can't see why they don't just buy the site, build a smaller store and use the rest of the space for storage and distribution, or sell some for housing. Why drag up all this bad publicity and their name through the courts for this ?

Why drag up all this bad publicity and their name through the courts for this ?There was a story on an English news site the other week. It was saying Tesco had bought heaps of land, and for one reason or another weren't going to put stores on them. I presume they bought the land to stop other supermarkets but that's by the by. The story went on to say that Tesco were now going to put houses on that land. www.theguardian.com/business/2014/jul/18/tesco-unlocks-landbank-to-build-4000-new-homes

Its really interesting how differently this news is being viewed accros the different platforms. Twitter and the I.F largely reporting on the lies being told by Higgs and on here its more of a poor Higgs reaction.
Im genuinely amazed how differently people view things as we are all Gasheads. This isn't a dig and i hope we can discuss this sensibly.

How can you blame him for a third party wanting out? He hasn't lied either he has just been very selective about what he says. Can you even begin to imagine what would happen if he said something in a press release which ultimately caused an issue? When the lawyers take over its best to keep it that way. Genuinely, I don't think it takes much to read between the lines here and put two and two together.

Twentyman read out a couple of wanky questions from listeners. And when Higgs said he didn't understand the question Twentyman got all uppity. I must admit if I had a shitload of money and put it into Rovers and then got slagged off by the fans I'd be pretty watered off. Obviously Higgs is a Gashead. He went to the same school as me. A bit older but I know people who knew him. He must have spent an enormous amount of time trying to get the UWE off the ground and now this. He's known there was a problem for a while. He really must be devastated. Yes I feel for him.

What else did you expect Dinsdale ? If Mr Higgs gave everyone from the IF £100, they would want £200, where as most on here would say thank you.

It's not a "poor Higgs" from me I'm afraid. Right now I am still just too battered by everything about my team being so sh** that I can't even get angry.

What a mess, just read the full writ. All section 73's and 78's. Sounds like a very complicated web, pretty sure this will run and run and run. To be fair it does seem like legally the club have been very thorough and done all that they can to force this along, the communication to us is another matter!

That aside he is doing all he can to try and get over the line and it isnt his fault that Sainsburys want out. I just hope he did a good job with the contract.

Sainsbury can only make one appeal from the high court The actual court case could be a 1 or 2 away, an appeal another year, our only real hope is Sainsbury's due the decent thing and make a reasonable compo offer now. I just can't understand why NH didn't admit there were major problems on 20men's show as the UWE is clearly dead in the water.

I just wanted to discuss why the same fans see things differently. I could write generalisations all day about this forum but its not going to make a decent conversation.

The overwhelming theme is anger/frustration at Sainsburys.
