Just to add a bit of ballance here. I travelled with a party of 50 on a privately chartered coach. We all had a great time at Port Vale and were grateful to the police for guiding us to a away friendly pub where gasheads were allowed to hang flags and have a little singsong in the courtyard before making our way to the ground. We had a swift drink in the Port Vale social club where we were also made very welcome. The police and Stewards we encountered were polite and helpful we had plenty of empty seats to choose from in the ground. The only complaints anybody on our party had was the performance on the pitch and the 45minutes our coach was held while whatever went on in the coach park was sorted. Not condoning or excusing anything that has been reported on this thread just saying the vast majority of the travelling support had a trouble free visit.

LOL, surprise surprise, the mods "move" the original thread so the ggmi thread takes over.
The mods seem to like it better when a poster who posts on here 24/7-365(who openly admits to winding up fellow posters, & has been given countless warnings) and who wasn't even at the event takes presidence over a thread started by someone who was. Instead of moving a thread to where most don't read, why not just move the posts that were about Brexit?
I've said it before, ggmi gets special treatment because he posts on here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The more he posts, the more replies he gets, and the more "PAGE VIEWS THE WEBSITE GETS!!" Coincidence.....?

Eh?I don't get your final comment.I don't think there's any advantage for gaschat or its mods,if there are more views/posts or not.Proboards and the people that advertise on here would love it,but I would imagine the mods would like less and not more posts to pore over.Personally I don't look to see who started a particular thread so makes no difference to me.

If they've already concluded that 'Trained Staffordshire Police officers deployed tactics to resolve the disorder incident and quickly and safely gained control of the situation.' why would they be interested in witnesses?

Conclusions before investigation seems to be the norm I'm afraid. I really cannot see anything constructive coming out of this. But I would suggest that one line of inquiry should be the headcount of supporters in that end. Port Vale have repeated several times after the event that there were 765 away supporters in the end, yet we sold 750 tickets in advance and there was reported to be "significant walk-up". I don't give a toss about the financial aspect, but if their seat planning and stewarding were constructed on completely the wrong number then some questions need to be asked of Port Vale.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if plod have had their noses put out of joint and now intend to embark on a period of identifying absolutely anyone (other than themselves) that they can take their anger out on. Just wait until they get a couple of videos and then see how many fans they go after and try to arrest.

I see the Port Vale chairman has finally issued a statement at 1542 today. It says what we all probably expected, nothing. No doubt someone on here will post a link.

I note that the Valiant steward was "held on suspicion of assaulting an away supporter" - doesn't say he was actually arrested.

A steward was clearly seen wading in with punches, a man with Multiple Sclerosis was knocked to the floor and cut his head, pepper spray was affecting a lot of innocent people, a woman was headbutted, kids crying and leaving the ground, OAP's scared. Not covered themselves in glory you say? I don't think I've ever read such a wild understatement on a football forum before, the actions of the people employed to protect the safety of innocent people on Saturday was nothing short of a total disgrace, Rovers have always had lads who like a scrap, that will never change, but it certainly won't be on the minds of people who on Saturday would have lost complete trust in the very people who are employed to ensure that innocent people can feel safe at a football match. "Rovers have always had lads who like a scrap" That makes it alright then. No it isn't alright and I haven't said that it is alright, it is a fact that we like almost every other club have a minority looking for trouble, to use a tiny portion of the original point made is rather poor form.
