Battling performance. Well worked first goal and a lucky second but couldn't care less how it went in.
Halifax had second half we had the first. Point would have been fair. But as we saw Monday you don't always get what you deserve.
Would have snapped you hands off if you offered me 7 points out of 9 after the Altrincham game.

Probably only deserved a point from that game but it's about time we had a bit of luck on our side. Despite the referee doing everything he could to try and stop that.

Two forwards scoring!!Well done and two more signings to improve the mid-field quality should ensure we continue to climb upwards.

Really happy to have nicked the win today, especially after not beating a poor FGR on Monday, that result more than made up for it.
You can see why Halifax are where they are. A team of giants, a big physical side, they reminded me of Cambridge from years ago when they had Dion Dublin and John Taylor upfront. Every time the ball went out for a throw in,the guy would just launch it into the box and they would be looking to win the flick on and second balls. Although they deserved a draw, they did not breach our defence to often and we still looked quite solid at the back, but their goal came from our own mistake.
Parkes had two chances to clear the ball, and the second time he could have shown a bit of composure and travelled with it,instead he get's a rush of blood and tries to make a hash clearance and then get's caught out of position. Even then their forward had a lot to do but he actually Miskicked it ( i was right in line of it ) and the ball rolled perfectly in the corner.
Really puzzled with some of the referee decisions again, and as for the linesmen, why don't they get involved ? UTG.

Cracking win that, thought the best team lost to be fair but that's life! Our mom was Mansell in my view, proper captains performance that was, thought Ollie Clarke battled well also.

Good win today - shaded first half, but Lee Brown stopped attacking in the second and we went backwards. Perhaps with confidence, we'll kill teams off earlier.
Sinclair looks like he could drive this team on with his enthusiasm, and has the makings of a good pro!
Am I the only one that thinks Mansell & Monkhouse are strolling through games? Good players who could do more?
Good win, good-ish crowd. More to return and enjoy winning again!?

Good first half, poor second half, you make your own luck and if Ellis had not have got on the first ball in the chance would most probably had gone, thought Sinclair made the difference though.
End of its another 3 points, so over all good day for us.

Just to add - the bloke next to me started moaning after 10 seconds! The bloke behind told everyone Cunnington was useless after ten minutes! You can't beat a knowledgable crowd!!!!

I reckon you're spot on with Monkhouse, looks lazy to me and content to do 'enough'. With Mansell though I thought he was an inspiration today, mom for me!

I just wish we had beat an inform team like Halifax today. The lads would have got more confidence. Fair play to alfreton fans though, could turnout for them.

Agree re Monkhouse.
Can't see how he is keeping Gosling out of the side.

Agree re Monkhouse. Can't see how he is keeping Gosling out of the side. Gosling has played very little football at league or our level i guess he has not shown enough. Agree about Monkhouse.

Perhaps Gosling is being saved for the mighty Gibraltar?

My guess is that Monkhouse is a bigger physical presence. That has certainly been needed in the last few games.

Won't be in the matchday thread this afternoon, as I'm heading off to The Mem soon! Got a good feeling about this one. Watched from the right hand side of the Blackthorn, was delighted just to be there! As others have said, some good spells from Rovers, interspersed with some dire ones! Almost ran down to join the scrum when Ellis scored - delighted for him, should do his confidence the world of good.

Just reading their forum, talk about sore losers, jeez.
I hope they crash out soon and end up midtable or worse, reading that.
