Well my source has heard from his source (this bit is not a joke) that the Al Quadis are getting frustrated with UWE for dragging their heels. Apparently a final deal is on the table, presumably a moddest one for both parties concerned, but the UWE are not accepting expecting a more fovourable deal. However this is not to say they aren't but expect this to go the distance and potentially collapse. The other thing I've heard is the land at the colony is our stadium plan B. I tend to take this stuff with a pinch of salt as roumours end up becoming roumours of more roumours. The colony wont be plan B It would cost a fortune in upgrading roads plus the site isn't big enough as more carparks would be needed. A redeveloped Mem is more likely than the Colony site being used.
An alternative site might be where the rugby club play out Henbury way (is that Clifton rugby club ? ) plus extra land that's there. Maybe a swap deal with the rugby club moving to the mem site ? Access to motorways and ring road ,potential for railway station next to site. Not to far from the colony and in greater north Bristol. Would also suddenly give mr Lansdownes Bristol rugby club some serious competition.....at the traditional home of Bristol rugby.
Happy days i can walk to the stadium !

Again pure speculation. My gut feeling - nothing else, is that UWE no longer want to sell. A worrying comment from SH's 'positive' statement on UWE back in January was "They (UWE) have to be sure that they can accommodate a stadium as was the plan of 7/8 years. We have to get it right".
IF they sell all the land, does that then prevent the UWE from future growth? I didn't realise until recently that over 30% of young people over the age of 18 now go on to University or further education. Demand might just outstrip supply if they have no further potential for growth. The whole scene has changed since they first approached the club many years ago.
I'm sure the owners have/are doing everything they can to secure a deal but there is a limit. I'm slightly biased in some respects because UWE doesn't really grab me personally but from the Clubs perspective I know it is vital for the medium/long term future and sustainability.

Regarding 'The Colony'. I had a nose at the plans that are online sometime ago. There was a note in there that people could not be charged an entrance fee. Puts that stadium suggestion to bed

I am not ITK I am optimistic not pessimistic In a recent interview with Mr Wael Al Qadi he was asked to comment on his first year as Owner of BRFC. One answer to a question was he didn't know and was surprised by "How long everything took to agree and achieve in the UK" The question was not specifically about UWE but that was the underlying feel to the question as I interpreted it. Mr Al Qadi did not seem to me to be annoyed rather frustrated by whatever the issues were. He maintained his usual smile throughout. Sit tight it will happen. Patience is a virtue. VIRTUE ET INDUSTRIA is the Bristol motto UTG

How up to date is your source with info as I was told this by somebody ITK months ago before Mr AQL took over negotiations direct with the UWE. I thought the latest from SH was a deal had been agreed and we just needed to come up with the money? The Colony purchase does seem an odd one given plans for the new training ground still haven't been submitted but the chances of it being Plan B are virtually zero.

What people keep overlooking in all this are the roles of Wael and Hani.
If it was left to Wael, he would go full bloodied to get this whole enterprise completed. Unfortunately, it's Hani who is running THIS show. And he is not halfway as committed as Wael. He is totally pragmatic, and does not let his heart rule his head. Hence, the drawn out nature of all this.

So much guessing and double guessing going on! No one on here knows, only those who need to do - we will find out in due course when the time is right. UTG
