Alistair Durden has spoken directly with the people involved in the deal - "they are UK property developers and credible football expertise is also involved" The greatest opportunity the club have had since leaving Eastville 30 odd years ago - apparently!! Seeing as I think the forum shuts down if we go more than 75 pages without him being mentioned, is the answer Holloway? No, not Holloway,...he said credible football expertise. 😂

On a similar note, last night as I was driving home I accidentally selected Radio Wiltshire and caught the end of the commentary of the Swindle v Chelski kids game and they weren’t very complimentary about Broadbent saying how he has slipped down the pecking order.

Woke up ten minutes ago and went straight to this thread. God I’m excited. I’ve got that mildly euphoric feeling mixed with anxiety and I’m ever so slightly nauseous. Will no doubt be checking back every fifteen minutes or so until kickoff. Might need some “rescue remedy”, or something stronger, to get me through to five o’clock. How pathetic is that, but how brilliant is it that supporting the Gas can make you feel so alive. UTG.

In my opinion that was the Two Ronnie’s best sketch. 😂

...or GC could be trying to emulate the 4-3-3 false 9 or 4-2-3-1 of Liverpool last season, lol. 😉

Interesting that we went for mood lighting along the side rather than floodlights in the corner. 😂

It’s just numbers. It depends what questions you ask of the data as to what you get out of it. For example, if they looked at the percentage of away support against home attendance I would hazard a guess that we would move up a couple of hundred places, but so what. Even that has nothing to do with why I identify with BRFC. You can’t really quantify integrity and soul.
I’m sure that some stats are useful, like the player GPS data, but that still needs to be interpreted with a degree of caution. However this data set has absolutely no bearing on my loyalty and passion for this club that I have supported for 44 years, and I doubt that anything ever will.

We are playing better teams in friendlies!!, teams we will only come up against in cups etc, we are a Division 3 side, in old money!, and GC has been blooding lots of newbies and young talent as he probably hasn’t got enough money for Bale etc..we all know what we need, just let GC and his staff do their thing. Perversely Bale probably has enough money to buy us!

How long is a piece of string Twice the length from the middle !! This is a tricky one to answer. Is the string moving close to the speed of light or is the frame of reference Minkowski spacetime? (Serious question😉).

TN. Seriously, I think this will be like a new start for him with better support from Little and Leahy. With all the focus on JCH he will be off the radar of opposing managers and defenders much to their chagrin.

I’m with Wareham on this one. Don’t underestimate GC’s abilities. He may wear his heart on his sleeve but he is very astute as the “GC league table” Jedi mind trick proved last season. The fact that he managed to organise and motivate a team incredibly low on confidence who were heading towards the trap door is a rarity in management and deserves respect. He had no option but to set up not to lose, initially to stop the rot and build some self belief but also because statistically it was more likely to accrue some points. Thankfully it was enough. I don’t believe for one minute that he will play the same way this season when we’re starting from a level playing field.
I believe that he has made an assessment of what it takes to perform well, and ideally get out of this division, based on a decade of experience and has set about recruiting accordingly. We now have a mixture of youth and experience, height and pace. I don’t care that the majority of our strike force misfired last season, that’s water under the bridge. They clearly have some talent but need the right circumstances to flourish whether that is the personnel surrounding them, the formation or the game plan. Everyone has an off period in their working lives, it’s just unfortunate for footballers that they are so public and ideally for us hopefully not more than one or two in a team at any one time.
Injuries aside I think we’ve got a pretty decent squad this season even if no one else walks through the door. So I’m going to get excited about our prospects, maybe this years surprise package, even if the rest of you miserable sods aren’t. UTG

I disagree. Pubes are definitely BRFC related. Were Rory’s really ginge, do any of the pretty boys shave/wax theirs, would the full genome analysis of the contents of the urinals on a match day confirm a maximum of five digits per hand, etc? 😂

No it isn't. The club is worth whatever a buyer will pay. That's true. But if a buyer says he will pay £0 for the football club (not including the Mem), and commit to building Rovers a suitable new stadium elsewhere, do you think Wael will go for it ? Not a chance...but Hani might. 😂

...and potentially unfavourable Transport Impact Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments, Rights of Light issues on the southern and western side, etc. Lots of potential grief and lots of money could be spent achieving nothing or only very small increase in the ground capacity making the capital outlay disproportionate to the returns.

Last season I remember keeping an eye on him having read a few good "pirate" reviews. Very tidy footballer. If Cogs can get him battling- it'll be ace signing. Maybe GC read Pirate’s reviews too. I wonder what his handle (lol 70’s flashback 10-4), I mean his username is?
