Park school (the original one), Southey playing fields and the YMCA tennis courts before they built houses on them.

Realising that they had missed my 6th birthday, my next door neighbours at the time (Nigel & Brian England - RIP both) decided to make it up to me by taking me to see Rovers v Tranmere in April 74, which we won 1-0. I remember being sat on the perimeter hoarding at Eastville with my legs dangling over the edge of the greyhound track so that I could see more easily and being told off by a steward. Fortunately I loved the blue and white shirts so much that it didn’t put me off and I’ve been Gas ever since, much to the chagrin of my dad and his family who were all reds! So it’s true, “get em while they’re young!”

I note that the article states that City owe SL £65m in “interest free” loans which the ALQ’s could choose to do, but have not, and could be an indicator of their altruistic intent.

What were Brighton & HA getting at the Withdean and then at the AMEX whilst in the Championship? I know they don’t have any real local competition but I reckon we would emulate their kind of support.

I think any thread on GasChat eventually turning into bickering about something completely irrelevant is as predictable as the laws of physics ...ah, the “uncertainty principle” in action.

I said in the summer we could do with a better option at right back. I'm not convinced by either Partington, Leadbitter or James Clarke. We should have not renewed Leads deal, good pace going forward but not the best defensively, Parts better option defensively. Dennis looks a good left back but how long is he out for, Scott Golbourne must be worth a trial, as he is a free agent. Just been reading Metro on the way home and it seems that Yaya Toure is still a free agent and Pellegrini isn’t interested in taking him to the Hammers. Could offer him a six month deal and free sausage rolls on his birthday! 😊

They received planning permission ages ago. The new investment is supposed to get it startet. Our new CEO planned a lot of it, before leaving. Plus they already got planning a few times before, for that stand, however, it didn't happen. Sound familiar?? I was working in the office that looked at the initial feasibility, redeveloping the main stand and relocating the ice rink from the Pavilions to land surrounding Home Park to create a sporting/leisure destination and freeing up the city centre site for redevelopment which Brent also owned. That has got to be at least six or seven years ago and that was just for the one stand.

The former Exeter and Peterborough United forward signed for the Gas in 2017 from the Posh and has brought his prolific form to the West Country. Are they being sarcastic? It’s a typo. Should read “prolific forum backlash”. Lol (Still has my unerring support when he wear the mostly white and blue).

Just spotted this and thought it made an interesting read, especially comparing the finances between the top two tiers and where the humble fan fits in to the modern game. It also goes to show that “them lot down the road” are more reliant on their ticket sales than we thought (if you spin the stats that way). www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44850888

No new strikers,no new stands,no new training ground,no new home shirts, keep the faith. But at least the pot of gold DC mentioned on Thursday is still intact. We can always watch that and see if it can score goals Wot! Have we gone and spent money on a gold pot now...jeez! (I guess it’s a cultural difference thing, as I much prefer platinum).

McAleney was a fantastic prospect at Everton amazed at his decline He would fit right in then as we are good at taking moderately successful strikers and sucking the talent out of them! lol

So if the worst case scenario that people are imagining came to pass and the recruitment team failed to pull off any more permanent signings before the transfer deadline but did, however, manage to effect the season long loan of some serious firepower from the Championship, or higher, would that really be a problem?

Well DC said at the beginning of the week (did he say which week?) Thought the club had plenty of time to replace Gaffney, so we should have had one by now. What a way to run a ballroom DC said he was going to "make a move" for a striker at the start of this week, not announce a signing. Ok, so maybe we have trouble with signings because his chat-up lines are a bit awkward..

At the ground. New shirt ordered. Grass looks sumptuous. Beer good. Bar clean and fresh. Now for a good result. Is the new stand up? Stand, as in tent type thing. It’s French. It will turn up when it feels like it.

True, but everyone is working hard in the background... We've had more plans than them. Just that none of ours have ever been built. “We’ve had more plans than you” has a certain ring to it!

The landing lights comment really doesn't bother me at all, I totally get that he may have believed that to be the case at the time. The one that really irks is the crazy gang comment. He was under no pressure to say that and god only knows what he was thinking when he came up with that out of the blue in that interview. Has to be one of the most random and yet humiliating statements a board member has made about our club in my living history. The bloke's meant to be championing our club, not demeaning it. I can only think that he has a tendency to do a Donald Trump and occasionally just panic and go off-script without warning no matter how well he has been briefed. Although that begs the question as to why he is being put in front of the camera in the first place if he's not up to the job. For balance, Wael appears significantly more measured and sensible in front of the camera - rightly or wrongly I take his word at face value when I hear it. I’m sure he was just using the old Wimbledon FC as an example of a club that had spent most of its history outside the top flight but which, at a certain point in time, had become greater than the sum of its parts and reached a level of achievement which nobody had thought possible. I just think he saw parallels with manager’s ability, the team’s work ethic and “never say die” attitude coupled with a passionate fan base. I don’t think he was implying that we are all bunch of nutters.....but then I guess the evidence is stacked against us! 😂
