IMO we now need at least 1 proven goal scorer currently we have no one who has regularly scored goals in the English first division. What about Will Tubbs, our assistant manager? I know he’s 45 now but I reckon he could still do a job for us. 😂 |

What would everyone consider a good season? We need a solid left back and a proven striker to end up in top ten otherwise its mid to lower in the table... To me 10th to 7th would be a good season so we can prove to future players we’re serious contenders to go up and sign a couple of really good signings to take us to top six the next season To me it would be the same request as last season top 10 finish with a positive goal difference Where’s your ambition man! It’s got to be a top 9 finish or we can’t claim progress is being made under DC. 😂 ......and second round of the FA Cup! |

Unfortunately for Sterling he unwittingly created the mal-intent towards himself by the manner of his departure from Liverpool (a bit like someone else a bit closer to home), and the media aren’t going to let him forget it. As for a comparison, he reminds me more of Leads with his blistering pace but then not necessarily choosing the right option at the end of a probing run, and hardly ever taking on the final defender. I still enjoy watching them both but don’t deny it can be frustrating at times.

Oh good. I couldn't see any other threads on here for this sort of discussion - finally someone has started one so that everyone can air their views! Anyone remember on the old OF the fortnightly "David Pipe - would you have him back?" threads which were interspersed between the fortnightly "Chris Lines - would you have him back?" threads? I never thought I'd look back on those days as a golden age. ...and the ones concerning the local wildlife, although I had always thought that bears had been hunted to extinction in these isles but apparently not! |

Sorry, it was a pathetic attempt at humour. As I understand it teams outside of the top flight can still sign unregistered players and loanees up until the 31st August, the FIFA deadline, I.e. our normal modus operandi.

As Ellis is obviously still mates with MT he might be more tempted to achieve parity on the remuneration front, and if he has belief in himself that he is as good then he must think it is a possibility. He hasn’t always had an easy time at the Mem but has been shown a lot of loyalty by D.C., so it’s a difficult one to call. However there must come a point in a professional footballer’s life when they have to wake up to their future and Ellis is probably close to that mid career crisis moment. If he was offered greater riches I wouldn’t begrudge him accepting the offer as there is no guarantee of greater progress with us, as much as we hope there will be.
