...trouble is, how do you work out who is the away support when the majority will have Bristol, or at least local, addresses?

It wouldn’t surprise me at all that the next time there is a Bristol derby match (whenever that is) the authorities will seriously consider if it should be played behind behind closed doors, and who could blame them. The behaviour at the last one was a disgrace and it appears nothing has changed since. Watching the sport you love should be an exhilarating, not life threatening, experience.

Yet more evidence we will be staying at the mem indefinitely. If the club are committed to reducing plastics they're not going to be making thousands of football stadium seats are they? It will be biodegradable seats so they will only last a season or 2, in time to move into the UWE stadium which will apparently get the go ahead once again but this time with a watertight contract ...and what about people with continence issues! I don’t want, ahem,....they wouldn’t want their seats to dissolve just before half time.

Now you’ve gone and blown his cover. He’s actually a sleeper planted by the English FA and was just about to be deployed as part of the England to win the World Cup initiative, doh.

How can you be both in and around the first team? In the first team means starting and around the first team means picked for the squad/bench but not actually playing for the first team. Surprised you didn't know that but happy to help. X Thanks for the clarification Hugo. I had heard a rumour that Bolders was in and around the U21s, which had confused me but now I understand.

I too was blessed with the mighty Iran in our work sweepstake. With the Revolutionary Guard, Allah and Putin on their side I reckon they stand a good chance. Wouldn’t want to be the referee! 🇮🇷 ⚽️🏆 (P.s. I reckon it actually might be Belgium’s year) We wuz robbed! I reckon Iran could still do this as they are so much more than a one man team. They will obviously be on a mission to nullify Ronaldo, not because of his footballing prowess but owing to his infidel first name. 😉

Its just nice to have an exciting young hungry team to watch again. A team that is being managed properly. Of course we could easily still get beaten by a team such as Colombia in the next round but everything appears to be going in the right direction. Especially with the youth teams doing so well last couple of years. Of course, they just need to get some game time either in the premier league, or elsewhere. But the future is bright, and who knows how far we can go say in four years time? ....,”or elsewhere?” Are you thinking of a something like a real cup competition against lower league clubs? 😉

Job done, but anyone else reckon we look dodgy at the back? and against better teams.........? Yes, we looked dodgy at the back. To be far though, no more dodgy than Belgium looks.... On to the next project. The upside is that the English defence are used to playing with, or against, the majority of the Belgian attack every week in the Prem, so should know what to expect. The downside is that the Belgian defence play with, or against, the English attack every week in the Prem as well!

I’ve just checked and you can hire the Matthew, although as pirates we could “borrow” it and sail round the coast to Wearside. According to Ports.com it’s quicker to go round Lands End, up the English Channel and follow the North Sea coast, and it should only take 3.7 days at 10 knots, or just over a week at 5 knots. What could be better than a cruise with all your Gaschat favourites, drinking from kegs, sharing a cabin with another bald middle-aged man, listening to Bolder’s tales and learning about breast lines, baggy-wrinkles, spreaders and hanks. Oh, and not forgotting the sensation of salty spray on your face. Who would want to fly when you could experience all that!

A theory I've had about can distribution of Bristol football fans in Somerset relates to the railway system pre Richard beeching. A lot of Somerset was connected to east Bristol through the sdjr as where Weston, nailsea, portishead etc was connected to south Bristol on the gwr.... Ah,...“Pining” for the old days! 😉 Interesting theory but you could have easily changed from the S&D at Radstock or Wells to get on the GWR (Bristol & North Somerset Line) into Temple Meads and on to Parsons Street or Ashton Gate Station. If you sat on the S&D you would have ended up in Bath Green Park Station and then the closest you would get to Eastville would have been either Fishponds or Bristol St. Philips Station via Mangotsfield, which would have been one heck of a journey. It would still have been easier to get to Eastville from Stapleton Road on the GWR. If we are going down the history route I reckon the divide is a consequence of land ownership described in the Domesday Book. Bedminster was part of the Hartcliffe “hundred” which went as far south as Wrington and included Backwell, Bishopsworth and Knowle. It contained “25 villeins (serfs), 3 slaves, 22 smallholders (who were probably put out of business in 1082) and a priest. Unsurprisingly they had never paid any taxes to the King. Horfield (nearest place to Eastville) on the other hand, was in the Berkeley “hundred” which stretched north taking in places like Almondsbury and Slimbridge. We had way more villeins than them, 242 to be precise, but were more classy as we had 19 radknights (riding men, or men providing services on horseback). It’s just a shame that Horfield in Anglo-Saxon means “filthy open land!” Oh well.

But how many foreign strikers settle into life in Div 1 they seem few and far between. Plus one look around the Mem and our rented training ground will probably have them on the first plane back home! As far as Taylor signing for Charlton whilst the proposed takeover is still to be completed Bowyer remains only the Caretaker Manager, so I doubt he'll be allowed to make any big signings. and then there's the small matter whether they can speak English. That’s not much of a problem as most foreigners I’ve met speak better English than we do, me luver. I was amazed to read only this week in a BBC news article that even in Germany there are a number of University courses that are taught entirely in English. If the Premier League can manage then I’m sure we can.

This is where people have to open their minds a bit. Exeter - Newcastle has already been mention. Cardiff - Newcastle is another easy option. Are there Bournemouth - Newcastle flights? Absolutely! You can go: Bristol to Amsterdam Amsterdam to Newcastle Newcastle to Amsterdam Amsterdam to Bristol For less than £100 at the moment! Forget the Newcastle leg. You will have a much less stressful time in Amsterdam, 😉

First 10 games looks tricky to me. We face all 4 promoted teams from League 2 - who could all be carrying momentum following their successful campaigns last season and the other 6 teams all finished above us in 3rd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th - teams who will be looking to grab a top 6 spot along with hopefully us. We usually have a better 2nd half to the season but if we can come away from these first 10 games with good results, we could be on for a great season. First 10 games tricky! We’ll have no defeatist talk on here before a ball is kicked, thank you very much. We are champions elect and the players know it (well the ones we’ve still got). We have earned the right to be in this league and we shouldn’t fear anyone, or else what’s the point in turning up if we are just going to hand the bigger/recently successful teams the points. RICH,...where’s the bus? This man needs a pep talk and a ticket! (Mind you, I can see quite a few draws amongst that lot...) 😉
