Going by GI & LJG this thread is set to run another 26 pages ...or until the start of the new season when there will actually be something tangible (football) to discuss.

Given the extra game time and the greater fan appreciation I suspect he would prefer to go back to Notts County rather than us, if he has the choice. However, being let go from a mid-table prem team 😂 might just be the the kick up the backside he needs and could be the making of him (see previous discussion about TL). He might recognise that DC knows what he’s about and with Browner gone could see an opportunity to push on. I would welcome him back as he’s definitely got potential and DC is pretty good at realising it from players who are willing to listen and work hard.

Oh my, I thought you were taking the p!ss. Sounds a bit desperate. We do something for you, you do something for us. Already got our tickets thanks. Well, people were guessing how this might be spun negatively, but no one guessed correctly. So well done for beating the panel. Tune in tomorrow for another episode of What's My Whine? I am disgusted that there isn’t equal representation for Caucasian or bariatric manikins in the image! 😉

Cue "Phone bill not paid" rumour. IP phone system being installed to cut costs.... Cue "tight Bar stewards" rumour ..or, “angry punters as staff not wearing headsets so didn’t realise there were incoming calls”...

I would love to see something from the club, like an artist impression of what they are actually doing, so we all can see what is going on instead of getting confused and guessing what it will look like. ...there you go! FWIW, these days most architects, interior designers, structural engineers, etc, develop 3D virtual models as part of their normal workflow from which conventional 2D drawings are generated (within reason, I.e general arrangement not details). The plus side of this is that basic 3D visualisations are readily available with very little effort (provided you have the content modelled or can download it from suppliers) as per the new shop layout.

Mensah seemed to struggle with the step up last season, Parts less so once he was given a chance? For what it’s worth, I was talking to an Aldershot fan at the cricket in Southampton yesterday and he was saying how much Aldershot missed Mensah when he left and spoke highly of him. UTG! I think he just needed to settle in a bit more which is why we didn’t see the best of him last season. A few more months with his new team mates and a good preseason should do the trick. Opposition teams talk about the Mem being a difficult place to come so it’s not surprising that newcomers might also feel the pressure, after all, compared to a non-league club we are gert massive aren’t we?

This is another one of DC ,s failings he hardly ever keeps the same team , and is more concerned about what the opposition is doing rather than concentrating on our game keep an unchanged team and let the opposition worry about us Midland - That sort of thinking is so old school ! ...and exactly what Southgate is about to do with England. Oh well, let’s hope the other quickly assembled national teams are even worse. 😔🙏🏴

I hope we can keep hold of Sercombe, but if anyone wants him surely he will command a fee five times or more than we paid for him? Of course, I'd rather have the player rather than the money though. I seem to recall Sercombe really wanted to move back to the South West when we signed him so hopefully isn't looking to move on just yet. I suppose it would depend on the wage increase though. Top player who I think would make the step up to the Championship if we were to go up. ...when we go up! I’m starting to get a good feeling about the forthcoming season, and you can’t do much better than signing a young, hungry, talented player who has just had the best season of his career. Sam seems like a smart cookie who knows what he wants and DC must have convinced him that he will get it with us. So, new quality players ✅, new pitch ✅, new seating ✅, refurbished bars + associated conveniences ✅, Rich’s bus MOT ✅, we’re on our way to the Championship (or at least another outing to Wembley).

...and back to the pitch. Has anyone got photographic evidence of the alleged lack of white lines? Isn’t it just possible that it was the wind, “cause white lines,...blow away”. 😉

Ain't got a clue what you are on about here It is clearly a reference to Fillipo Brunelleschi, a forward thinking player for Fiorentino and architect of their rise to Serie A. His painting of the Baptistry in Florence in 1415 used linear perspective for the first time which heralded the start of the Renaissance. The OP obviously thinks we are on the edge of greatness,...ooops, wrong thread!

I remember going to visit the Philip’s Science Museum in Eindhoven wihilst on a school CCF summer camp at RAF Laarbruch back in the late 80s. It was like a flying saucer on legs. Also went to the bridges at Arnhem and Nijmegen which are relatively near by, so there’s more to do in the area than just watch football....just in case anyone is interested. 🇳🇱 👍 ...and talking of Dutch relatives, I believe my other half has a much older half sister (that we don’t talk about) born in 1946, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, 😉, who lives near by (Helmond). Not sure if I should ask if we can go and visit though. 😳

I remember back in the 80s when Beefy Botham played a few games for Scunthorpe and it certainly attracted a lot of press coverage then. Not sure if it did them any good results wise but it certainly got them a higher profile for a while.

When I last looked at this thread I am sure that the poll showed more support for the Shrews. Who are the sad people that voted after the result?

Sunderland have sold 18,000 season tickets already. Can't wait to see when we go there!! For them it will be like our season in the Conference with lots of novelty grounds to visit, including one with a plethora of tensile fabric structures. Can see some of them being locked out though as they won’t be used to grounds with such small away capacities. However I doubt that they will be able to get in the home stands as they won’t be able to pull off a Brizzle accent!

Just caught sight of the latest Bath Chronicle cover and it looks like Bath City’s proposed redevelopment has hit the NIMBY barrier. They quote a “campaigner” and if I remember correctly use words like “totally unacceptable”. It makes you wonder what some people expect when they live next to an established sports stadium. There is a big clue that it’s not a rural idyll as there are four highly visible floodlight towers. I appreciate that not everyone gets to choose where they live, but even so you have to be realistic about the periodic levels of disruption. Good luck to the Romans, it’s going to be a long hard slog!

Does anyone else find it upsetting seeing Tom in a red shirt?

Great news, fantastic player and will only improve. My thoughts exactly. He’s 27, coming into his prime, has a point to prove and still has time to get better if he takes on board what the coaches tell him. It does annoy me that a lot of people on here seem to think that a player’s ability is fixed at a certain point in time and that’s as good as it gets. As long as he listens, is prepared to work hard, stays fit and gets a few decent crosses in next season I think it will be a good bit of business. I know we often talk about the squad having a good team spirit but I think it is far more important than we realise and DL’s decision to sign on the dotted line is a good example of that.

I sent Wael a plan for developing the Mem. Basically it meant taking half of the carpark to move the ground over. Under the New West stand we could house 9 units for training / Doctors/ Dentists/ Creche. The 10th is for the groundman's equipment. The new east stand would contain 2 rows of boxes, Conference room / restaurant, ticket office ect. The North stand would have 2 refreshment bars beneath it along with toilets. The away or South Stand would have a steeper rake to it and be the full width of the pitch. Facilities for this end would be in the corner of between the East and south stand but within the Turnstiles. The Alton Road exit to be their Emergency exit. The total capacity would be around 19k and with the exception of the South stand the other stands would not be any higher than the present east and West stand, and the North stand the same height as the tree line. There would be 1 entrance for vehicles and 3 for pedestrians / bikes / motorcycles. did I get a reply? I’m intrigued. Are you willing to upload your proposal for a critique?

Nothing wrong , you can say what you like , I think when you say that league 1 is his level that you are wrong as he's clearly good enough to play at a higher leve as he's played in the championship previously for a couple of seasons.
He hasn't played in the Championship for 3 years.
Should be reaching his peak now so who knows.
He will obviously be playing there again with us in 2019. 😉
