I also believe that they are looking for a way out, and have done since the UWE stadium collapsed.
It's the ones that believe Wael has a master plan to move this club forward that I think have blind faith bordering on gullible, but what can we do except sit and see what happens?
Ok ok. You misunderstood me. Any decent investment led business plan has an exit route. But let's leave it there. Let's just hope for a bloody good season😎 Completely agree that any decent investment would have an exit plan (other than going bust and losing everything). So I certainly hope its a decent investment plan but at present there is little evidence to show how they are moving that investment plan along to an exit plan. I am assuming the exit plan isn't to sit here until a really gullible investor comes along willing to offer them a profit on their investment which materially hasn't improved the business.

Anyone remember when that Wycombe fan came on here and said they were going to smash up The Vic? It was a Tuesday night game and we ended up beating them by 3 or 4 😂 gaschat.co.uk/thread/4740/shStil my favourite Gas Chat thread, deserves legendary status. As they'll be with us again, perhaps he should be invited to the Vic to smash it up again. He could fancy his chances this time

I think people get confused by the whole evolution v revolution thing. Along with getting mixed up with what Investment in the club actually means. Spending money on the infrastructure of the club - Youth development, Development squad, facilities, (bars), commercial etc is investment. If done correctly, this gives payback longer term, e.g more income generated, possibly home grown players, etc etc. It grows the club. Call this 'Evolution' if you like. Giving the club money is not the same thing. It doesn't grow the club (long term). It might give you a good season or two, but it is entirely short term unless the above is done. When people say the owners are not investing in the team, they are basically saying that they want the owners to give the club money. The difference - Evolution/investment makes the club sustainable. Giving the club money does not. The old board were never able to invest, hence why the club stagnated for years, as when we did have a bit of success we could never cash in. When people have a dig at the wage budget, I don't think they quite grasp what really they are arguing for. So what the owners are doing is exactly what they should be. And hopefully, in the background, the stadium is being/will be resolved - and away we go. Why does giving the club money not grow it long term? The 2 parts of that question are not mutually exclusive. Invested correctly then money given to the club can indeed grow the club long term and is certainly what I would like to see. You seem to confuse giving money (ie converting debt to equity) as throwing it away on exhirbitent player contracts which it could be or shouldn't necessarily be. All we know for a fact is that at the last set of accounts Dwane Sports had shown no appetite to convert their debt to equity. And to disagree with the thread title there was a revolution the day they took over, the first time in my life that we had had owners who weren't local connected businessmen. And those new owners, misguidedly, came in offering a revolution in the form of a new stadium at UWE. Which has changed to evolution with no current presented plan for the development of a stadium at the Mem or anywhere else.

The training ground isn't owned by the club so I'm presuming it will be developed by the owners, doesn't matter that the club has little disposable income. Are you suggesting the owners of the training ground don't have the disposable income? I'm sure the people who own the company that owns the supposed training ground have disposable income. I'll continue to wonder what the hold up is in submitting the planning application. I'm sure the new CEO will bang it out double quick time though.

I like that you are assuming there is actually anything to communicate. The training ground should be done and dusted by now, no plans submitted. Dare I say it, there is more chance of England winning the world cup. I guess we'll just have to wait and see on all fronts. Why should the training ground be done and dusted? We are hardly a club with much disposable income to throw money after unsustainable projects. The training ground isn't owned by the club so I'm presuming it will be developed by the owners, doesn't matter that the club has little disposable income. Are you suggesting the owners of the training ground don't have the disposable income?

If you believe the alleged attitude of posters on the forum then I'd expect all the coaches to be defensive.
Welcome aboard GC, always liked his no nonsense approach on the pitch.

I would like Wael to reconfirm that no negotiations are being undertaken to revive UWE and it is dead as long as his family continue to own the club. Why would he do that for you, your just a customer in his eyes and not an investor of large amounts of money Something we can actually agree on, we have entered the era (that many other clubs have before us) where the owners no longer consider us as fans but only as customers. It may work for big successful clubs in the Premier League but a very dangerous approach at loss making lower league clubs.

We're obviously laughing at them getting their pants pulled down over these deals. They could learn a few things from us when it comes to selling players at top dollar........ You've missed the point. The point is quite obvious if Topper is explaining it to you

They are banking £17M for 2 players? Have I missed something? We replace our entire squad 17 times for that. We're obviously laughing at them getting their pants pulled down over these deals. They could learn a few things from us when it comes to selling players at top dollar........

Absolutely right - it would be much better. BUT the Board were giving their views on their hopes and anticipations and what happened? Whenever things didn't happen or there were delays the Board were set upon and accused of all sorts - the abuse directed towards Steve Hamer in particular has been nothing but shameful - all the name calling and references to landing lights etc. And as per this thread - simply because something announced at the AGM has yet to happen the club are being accused of all sorts. So now you have a situation that announcements are being made when they happen, and so no-one can accuse the Board of going back on their word or promising and not delivering. (Bar, shop, roofs, new pitch, signings are examples) and when the next batch of enhancements/changes/signings are delivered then we will all be told. Yes, the ordinary supporting Rovers fan deserves better, but the Board baiting few are responsible, and until they stop only a select few will know what plans are ahead (in case those plans do not materialise) So there we go, it's all our fault eh? That'll learn us. Take a lesson from knowfuckall never criticise the people you are sucking up too. You'll appreciate the deafening silence so much more. The fact is Dwane Sports own a site that has approval as a sports site, minor changes maybe needed to that approval but yet nothing has been done. How they'd go about obtaining planning permission for something more contentious like a redevelopment of the Mem is a worry, certainly in terms of a time frame.

If you borrow money to improve your assets, income and future that is good business sense. If you borrow money to stand still and pay your day to day bills then ultimately you are doomed. So a good reason to be worried in my view. In that case you must have been VERY worried under the last BOD because they borrowed money which failed all of your three tests - assets, income, future. The work being carried out now at the Mem should increase income (good business sense - according to you) and help to increase the playing budget for DC. Yes I was but I had the crumb of comfort that they were Gasheads like the rest of us. The Al Qs I can't say the same of but the borrowing continues. I'd be very happy if you can point me to anywhere that I've said the modest improvements aren't good business sense (at least in theory as no-one including you has seen the costings and projected income increases for these improvements)?

Work is always going on in the Background where everyone is working very hard. Does anyone know where this often mentioned Background actually is? I believe it lies on a Ley line that directly connects the Colony and UWE site

I love the way people who are worried about us being in debt are the same people (more or less) who want the cash splashed on players, wages and a new stadium... If you borrow money to improve your assets, income and future that is good business sense. If you borrow money to stand still and pay your day to day bills then ultimately you are doomed. So a good reason to be worried in my view.

Yep and Exeter gave him notice under his 2 year rolling contract in Oct 16 and he has now left the club as he didn't want to sign the new contract offered. Think I'll rely on nobbys info rather than relt on Toppers world I think it was notice that his current terms were not sustainable to carry on and fresh terms were to be given 24 months hence, and new terms were offered, if he chose not to sign those terms he could choose to leave. In that regard Tisdale wasn’t sacked or put on leave, there was a right of activation clause that the club had. Probably a similar clause was in for Tisdale that if a higher club came calling it released him for talks. My understanding exactly Exeter wanted to switch to the standard year's notice/compensation not the 2 years they were on the hook for.

It is not nonsense. Do some checks and you will find it's standard......and please, this is nothing to do with any anti Wael/AQ agenda. Praise to Wael for getting this done. I am sure though some will moan about this like if we sack him then it will be a big pay off so club will lose money. If DC were sacked he'd only get one years pay off. It's standard now in Manager's Contracts. Somebody says praise to Wael you respond with talk of DC only having a one year pay off, it's hardly supportive of the owners? Paul Tisdale had a two rolling contract at Exeter, Pardew is still being paid by Newcastle for his 5 year rolling contract, so unless you've seen the club or DC suggest somewhere he still only has a 1 year rolling contract there's nothing to say DC's isn't similar to Pardew's. As I said before what's in it for DC to agree to a 5 year contract if he can get the boot tomorrow with a 1 year pay off? Yep and Exeter gave him notice under his 2 year rolling contract in Oct 16 and he has now left the club as he didn't want to sign the new contract offered. Think I'll rely on nobbys info rather than relt on Toppers world

MK Dons are not on an industrial Estate they built the ground and then leased all the space around it to the shops and food outlets, and of course a hotel is also bolted on to the stadium. That's exactly what we need, the ability to have lots of businesses encamped on the site that we own. Can you honestly see a KFC or Mc Donalds or a NEXT alongside the MEM? No, they're are just getting the polish out. As for small crowds, MK are a relatively a new club, and have had little success. If they ever got to the top of the Championship they'd double their crowd. Also they rent their ground out to Northampton RFC when they have Euro matches, and they get 20+ thousand. More money that the ground makes them. Since the late 1960's the fact that we didn't own our own ground has held us back. Now we own the Mem with facilities of the 1960's. A meccano stand opposite a white elephant surrounded by a tent and a terrace with a rusty roof. It's a turd and what they are doing now is just a bit of polishing. Grounds need to make money every day of the week, you can point to us getting good crowd bit I doubt if that money even pays a third of the cost we are running at. We need a new 25k stadium, and yes we might only get 16 or 17k each week but if we drew a Prem team in the cup, we would fill it. This season we play Sunderland, they would bring 5000 if they could, just think 3800 more than we can accommodate, at £24 that's £91K for one home game, and no doubt Porstmouth would bring more. They come in numbers and more would come if they weren't on an open wet terrace. Finally what wrong with being on an industrial estate, if the club of the only food and drink outlet for a mile or two then surely that would add to the clubs moneybox. Staying at the Mem is staying in the past. Absolutely spot on this. Having the capacity to draw good crowds is imperative, especially now. The championship has become such a competitive league that they are mostly “big clubs” and the ones that aren’t only survive 1 or 2 seasons. Yeovil, Burton, Scunthorpe are all examples of that. That means we will see a lot more “big clubs” grace L1 in the years to come. Capitalising on this important. Imagine if City came down? It also reveals the stark fact that you need a ground to be championship ready if you are going to go up and hold your own. The revenue streams a new ground will draw will be needed to pay championship wages and get championship players. You can no longer fudge your way there and then expect to stay up. Burton are on a industrial estate, but I remember a cracking away game I had with Roadman there, we lost 1-0 but good grub, decent beer at the ground, shed loads of parking for both fans. What’s not to like? There is scope for huge expansion there and I’m surprised they didn’t make the most of being there. It only inconveniences those who want to go on a bender before or after and they can’t stagger into town afterwards. No inconvenience to going on a bender. The taxi from middle of Burton was about £4,50 for eight of us and he was desperate / happy to pick up after the game. Wish prematch benders were always that eadsy

May get more custom anyway with the Civil Service club shutting Is that definate now then, as the last I heard it was just possible. Believe the national Civil Service Sports Club wish to stop running such venues but have allowed the local branch to take over responsibility for running the clubs. Not sure if that has come to fruition or not in Bristol

Fair do's it's needed more than a lick of paint for far too many years. Hopefully there are also plans to find a use for it on non match days
