I think it sums up where we stand, the player has one conversation with Garner, clocks him as inspiring as a bag of cement and a bottom four manager, decides to move 232 miles away from his digs in Bristol rather waste a season pushing water uphill at Rovers and get a promotion with Hull City on his career CV. You really are glum if you're writing stuff like this.

Getting back to where we were when i first started watching Rovers in the second tier back in the seventies, would be nice to see us challenging for promotion to the premier league and playing in a decent stadium, with Special lady gardeny below us so we can s**t on them. but we never challenged for promotion to the top flight in the 70s - every season (about 7 ) was a fight to stay up - look at the league tables for then. The only time we looked like going up to the top division was a couple of times in the 50s - I think in one season with 2 games to go we had a good chance of going up but I think we lost those last 2 games.

Coughlan had a great start, what ya talking about Willis?! A very good performance in his first game a narrow defeat at Sunderland and then won his next three before he was given the job , 2 year deal if I remember right ? He hit the ground running because he kept things simple , he was inexperienced as a manager like Garner is , he knew that , didn’t try anything fancy just talked to the players and kept things simple in a way that they could go back to basics and pick up enough points to get by. Then he made a couple of good additions in the window , made us more solid , we became even more of a horrible bastard of a team to play against with a front two that had clicked the season before and continued to click in the new season with a strong defence and midfield Where Every Player Knew What His Job Was . We were going well. JCH and Nichols had a partnership better than anything we’d had in years and we were 4th in league 1 better than we’d been in years, decades even. Most of the fans hated Nichols - JCH loved him.( the only time JCH has ever been prolific and his ratio was better than Lamberts so not surprising is it ?) Most of the fans hated Coughlan - some loved him( incredible points to game ratio) Coughlan gives up on a club with a fan base that had pretty much zero gratitude and leaves- new manager comes in sells JCH partner , changes everything particularly putting JCH in middle without a strike partner JCH looks lost , leaves , Sercombe wants out , Craig wants out, Clarke wants out. It’s all gone tits up. Things might get better , there always comes a point where you hit bottom and start again but I’m not convinced we’re there yet. Really ? I can't agree with that. Not better than Harrison and Taylor surely ?

Ed Upson is a good footballer and probably if he was playing against us for one of the better sides we would be saying we should sign him. When Ollie Clarke was out for a long time he shone last season when we were heading for the top.If he does play he needs to be in the holding role and give others the chance to do the running. I am not convinced so far that Grant is even up to Upsons standard though I hope to be proved wrong! I agree with your points there Steve. Also contrary to some peoples beliefs i also agree with BG's response regarding Ollie Clark, Kyle Bennet and Ogogo. None of them were good enough for Third division football ( maybe Bennett ) and it has been provan with the amount of clubs after them after they were told they were not considered a part of our squad. Especially Ogogo who i thought was a very poor signing. That's very harsh. Ogogo did a very good job in a certain style of play. Full of energy, bite and chipping in with goals, but I understand BG's decision. He's aspiring to a different game, which if he gets it right, will get us challenging for the top 6 (by next season).

I find it hard to understand why clubs with a fraction of our support i.e. the likes of Peterborough etc etc do what they do and we do what we do - Fail ?? Nothing has changed since I attended my first game, way back in 1966 ..... oh to be little Bournemouth & Boscombe those were the days and Villa were our arch enemies 🙄 The new training ground is an important step in the right direction

Only if they are your players. Keep getting loans in dont make you a buck if promotion isn't of importance.we are now thinking like small clubs in existing in this division We only have 2 loan players at the club - that has to be the lowest number for many a year !

It seems to me that most people agree that Garner's record so far is dreadful and that if in the future things continue in the same vein, Wael will be forced into making a decision. People also want Rovers to win every game, regardless if they're pro Garner or anti Garner. The main sticking point seems to be whether you regard the summer and the new season as a fresh start for Garner or a continuation of his efforts last season. Likelihood is we'll probably be having this same debate after the Doncaster game too, with some people pointing to the fact that Garner has only presided over three league games and others pointing to his abysmal record. I think what's clear though is that there is only so long that people's patiences will hold, even for the most optimistic supporter and if things continue as they are 5 or 10 games down the line, the fanbase will start to form a pretty united front in it's opposition to BG. I don't wish him to fail, in fact I've spent pretty much the whole summer wishing that he will prove people wrong this season but a points got to come where Garner has to wake up to the fact that we've been so poor under his guidance so far, acknowledge it and tactically try something new. more than 5 games Axe, give him and the NEW players a chance - it's a shame about 20 on hear don't like the word patience.

If BG was working in any other industry, he'd have been sacked ages ago. sack the manager, get rid of the new players - I'll sort the lot out - you wait and see.

TWO games in to the season ........................................ Anyone want to predict where Sunderland and Ipswich will finish this season ? Get behind the team and the boss - long way to go. Signings are good. Young players emerging too. I couldn't give a monkeys about Sunderland and Ipswich. I know more about my team and that we are sh1t under BG. Lowest shots on target for and against. We would finish bottom based on last season on both counts. We are getting relegated if we keep BG, Jaakkola is our only hope of staying up. Wake up and smell the coffee. 2 games in and you're throwing all your toys out of your pram, but not your iPhone

Any predictions from you ?

I emailed both Claire and the season ticket enquiries email addresses. Got an email from Tom Gorringe asking me to confirm my membership number and then he sent me the code at about half 7 last night. I would try again maybe. Nightmare, will try again. Like you Bris, I received all the ifollow information via email on 11 Sept but have not received any code for the game - very very disappointing. How long did people have to wait for the code please ?

1 or 3 pts - both would be a useful start to the season. I hope we can use that league cup defeat as a huge motivation to put things right against them on Saturday.

Pompey signed Michael Jacobs on a 2 year deal. Cracking signing. Ive always wanted him here. Will be a key player. If he stays fit all season, I think he'll propel Pompey to promotion.

I'm happy with the current squad but looking to the future it's about time we looked at players from the Championship at least if we are to progress. So I carried out a bit of research and came up with PNE defender J Storey. Think he has a tale or two to tell. Swansea midfielder M Grimes, no dirt on him so should fit in well. Swansea defender K Naughton, nothing on file with the EFL but should be a free agent soon. Brentford c/h C Goode comes with excellent reports as does his team mate Dasilva who should help add some trophies to the Rovers Cabinet. Bournemouth J Simpson might be a hard signing but a bit of BARTering should settle it. Just to end it, I know this is a difficult one but is essential in my way of thinking Bristol **** keeper Bentley as we need to improve the image of our car park. Don't give up the day job

Be good to get the signings done and dust this week. What i dont want BG to do is constantly change the playing side, so sooner we or he knows the strongeat 11 the better really. with something like 13 midweek games coming up in a scrunched up schedule I don't think you should think about strongest 11. More likely strongest 16 -18. Players more likely to get injured and BG no doubt will have to rest players for some games. He has assembled a very good squad so these 18 -20 players should do a good job throughout the season. UTG !

Lots of positives to take from today IMO. Great to see us defend so resolutely for 98 (wtf?!) minutes & scrap our way to a deserved point. I wasn’t sure we had that side of our game still in us under BG - so was really pleased to see the determination & bodies on the line defending. Also impressive individual performances from the likes of Westbrooke, Leahy, Jaakkola & Hanlan - who gave a great account of himself on his debut. We missed his pace as an outlet when he went off. Of course, on the ball we were lacking second half & we needed to take better care of it instead of giving it straight back to Sunderland. Their goal was always coming with the pressure we were under. But that side of our game will keep improving over the coming weeks as the players get sharper & more used to this system & style of play. Plenty to like & plenty to work on, but a great point to start the season. UTG! Spot on mate ! on completed passes - Sunderland had 534 to our 214
