I can imagine the question and answer session now...
Q. "Toni, when we move into the new UWE stadium what extra income and expenses will the club be expecting?"
A. "We're moving into the UWE? I thought that wasn't an option! I've never worked out the financial consequences..."

Ward or Clarke, it's all blah. The crime was making the change the day after the transfer window closed. Wtf is that about? Agreed, or at very least not signing the player(s) we needed under JW whilst it was open...

I was just reading an article from 2010/11 about Swansea's Liberty Stadium. In that (successful year for the football club) the stadium company (they own 33%) lost £100k and the football club lost £8m. If the break-even attendance for the Mem is 9500, I'd love to know what it's predicted to be for the UWE! Nail on head Dave. It's very easy to tell us it will be self financing but to show how this is to become reality is another thing plus ANY new enterprise take time to build up a customer base. I'm just thinking about what I wrote as well. Surely if the UWE is self financing the break even football attendance should be lower than 9500???

Income streams galore when we have the UWE. Eg. The biggest conference venue in the South West. (Not conference as in our division - although that's true also)... A convenience store, a gym and conference facilities plus 3 gigs a year. There will be overheads. It does not add up. I was just reading an article from 2010/11 about Swansea's Liberty Stadium. Interesting to look back and see what we were predicting a month ago.
Belgium still look a fair each-way shout, and whilst neither Argentina nor Brazil have hit top gear yet....well, they're still doing enough...
Current odds:
Brazil 3/1 (probably 5/1 if they weren't the hosts...)
Germany 4/1 (very un-German last night, and could hit a better-than-expected France in the Quarters)
Argentina 4/1 (surprised they've shortened and not drifted...)
France 9/1 (France-Germany 'could' be the pick of the Quarters)
Netherlands 10/1 (could have the easiest run of everyone to the semi-finals, might have an EW flutter...)

I think its more about investment kp. There are, apparently, some lined up. No, KP is right that they've repeatedly talked about self-sustaining income streams, which does not (according to my definition) mean new investors. I assume it means the gym, the conference facilities (well located to the motorway and rail networks), the convenience store and concerts...can't think of any others though...

England was the world cup equivalent of shooting your load after two thrusts. The shotgun they call it. And it only ever happened to me once I hasten to add. Was it in Brazil and did it involve a Uruguayan and an Italian?

I originally picked mid-table because I knew we'd be slow in the transfer market...still quite happy with my prediction based on the lack of signings so far...

Richard Everson should be approached, or / and we should use the huge number of coaches and playing staff we have at the club to watch games. Great on days/evenings when we're not playing, but when we are playing either they have a role with us or they're not needed when we're playing, in which case they've probably already been laid off...

...Clarke has done well to sign 2 half decent strikers by the sounds of things both on a free and keep Brown on a reasonable wage. We are only looking at signing 2 or 3 new players which shows me that the board are lacking the ambition to trying going back up at the first attempt. It shows me someone isn't worried about being able to put out a starting team and full subs bench without using the loan market and/or youth players...

Don't forget, round three of the predictions game is now live over here. Obviously I'm expecting nearly all interest in the tournament to end in about 7 minutes (...and counting...) so I might increase the pestering and banter level to keep you all playing ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Round three of the World Cup predictions game. There are seven rounds: the first is over here, and the second is over here, and this is the final Group round and probably the last time to score big points! As before, I'll give you the list of matches (in this case, the final group games for every team). You predict the scores. There will be 1 point awarded for a correct result, and 4 awarded for a correct score-line. Results will be tallied as and when I can be bothered. The next round will be launched as soon as the fixtures are ready or I can get around to it...play as many rounds as you like - and even if you missed the first and/or second round you can still join in and try to catch up!You can edit your predictions up until the deadline (see below). Obviously the board will tell us all you've edited your post which is fine. I will be working out the scores from my records of your predictions, not what the board says, so probably better to PM me if you're wanting to change what you've already guessed based on injuries, form, local weather and/or the threat of riots etc etc... Round Three: Please copy and paste this part as your entry, include your predicted scoreline and if I've screwed anything up let me know - as normal, they're listed in group order...
Entries for this round close at 3pm Monday 23rdCameroon v Brazil Croatia v Mexico Australia v Spain Netherlands v Chile Greece v Ivory Coast Japan v Colombia Costa Rica v England Italy v Uruguay Ecuador v France Honduras v Switzerland Bos-Herce v Iran Nigeria v Argentina Portugal v Ghana USA v Germany Algeria v Russia South Korea v Belgium
