Bonham 6 Never made a save.
J.Clark 6.5 Up against McGready did well enough Lockyer 7 Good performance Craig 6.5 Have to mark him down for the miss kick but thw goals were not his fault Holmes-Dennis 7 Needs a proper winger in front of him.
Rodman 6 Underused Ogogo 5 Sideways and back O. Clarke 2 Looks unfit can't pass Sercombe 4 Out of form, out of position
Reilly 5, No threat Clarke-Harris 6, Needs a partner
Jakubiak 5, Might have made a difference at one down Upson 5, Big improvement on O.Clarke Nichols NOLE
Sunderland 5, Easy lazy day for them GC 2, I bet he's thinking he only dropped one point today because the team he picked was for 0-0

Mine was the old Meadow Lane, Notts County ground in 1970 or 71. It really as an old-fashioned ground. The stands were wooden and the main stand was all standing I seem to remember. The terraces were sleepers and ash, and it really was in n a terrible state. Football watching facilities were dreadful in that period, and that ground would probably be condemned under present H & S rules. The area the stadium was in is called The Meadows, a name that brings to mind pleasant, sunny uplands with cattle peacefully grazing on the verdant herniated. Nothing could be further from the truth! The area consisted of a grim Victorian housing estate with 2 up 2 down terraces of back to back houses, probably only equipped with outdoor privvies. It made St Pauls or Easton look like Stoke Bishop. I next went there for the area final on the Dafty Cup. We outnumbered their fans that evening, the ground had been renewed, and the grim Victorian streets had been cleared away and replaced with grim, modern dwellings, no doubt equipped with indoor bathrooms and sanitation. What happened in the first game?, I hear you ask. 2-0 down at half time, went on to win 3-2. Harold was among the scorers. The players came out and talked to the fans outside the changing rooms while we were waiting to board the supporters club coaches. Nowadays if you want to visit a sh** ground with open terraces etc, why, visit the Mem! Fellowes Park Wasall was probably the worst ground I visited. Eastville seemed bigger and better than most, Trashton only had one decent stand, and streetlamps for floodlights

v Man Utd at Old Trafford, January 1964, in FA Cup, lost 4-1, Denis Law hattrick. Went on train from Stapleton Road with grandparents. Anyone else go ? I went, Rovers chartered trains, loads of them. Took hours and hours to get back. Man Utd scored all five goals (own goal ) they also went down to ten men. Remember buying the local rag at the station with headline "Ten man Reds walk it". Post ww2 Rovers have an equal head to head record with Man U, not many clubs can say that.

On the Shrews forum one said that Payne, and his wife especially, did not like living in Bristol. Another, that Rovers still owed a lot of the "£200k" transfer, and the loan would be in lieu of some of that.

Loans are not usually allowed to play against their own club.

Swindon are not going to pick up all of Bennets wages nor Shrews Paynes. Just about cover Ogogo's.

Expect Rovers are covering a fair part of his wage.

They are both useless but Payne has a better goal scoring ratio. Nicholls 1 goal in 18 months . Payne 1 goal in 6 months year We look a much better side with Nichols in the team than Payne. Nichols has actually got quite a few assists this season. It would have made us feel less depressed if they had hit the woodwork a few times, which Nichols is quite good at.

Bonham 4 Fumbled one of the attempts on target and let the other in.
J. Clarke 6 Best of the back line , but little connection to other players. Lockyer 4.5 For defending 2 For distribution Craig 5 For defending 2 For distribution Kelly 4 West Ham want him?
Rodman 4.5 Forced a good save and a goal clearance Upson 4.5 I thought he put in a fair effort and would have taken Clarke off. O. Clarke 3 Played deeper than I've ever seen him play Holmes-Dennis 3 Offered nothing today
Jakubiak 4.5 Worked hard no support Payne 2.5 Harsh booking; perhaps that affected him.
Subs: Lines 3.5 Put on as panic reaction by GC Reilly 3 Ditto Matthews 3 Ditto
Crowd 3 Can't remember Irene once, can't blame us, but not to worry GC said he would take the blame this time. Ref Wycombe 4 Wanted it more.
GC 1 I know it's been "Back to Basics" But Payne and Clarke should have been subbed at halftime. Sending the same 11 out again for the second half was asking for it.

Wonder why Swindon came for Broadbent and not Menayese, seeing how he was first choice last season for them, and they were doing better then.

We sold him for 800k so I imagine he is on at least 15-25k a week probably much more, we will need to move 6 or 7 players out to afford his new salary. I would shocked if he is on anything near 25k. More like 10k. Snake doubled his money to be a bench warmer, Ellis was first choice under Hurst before the injury so £15k sounds right. To put into perspective what Championship players are paid. Torquay have got players under the Johnson's loan agreement on £1,000 a week.

I expect GC is more than capable of dealing with this. From listening to him over the past few weeks he comes over as someone with a lot of common sense who will deal with things within the dressing room. UTG! When Payne came on against Coventry, GC didn't wait for the dressing room to let him know he should be putting more effort in.

Leaving the ground these dark evenings is quite a challenge for those 70+ if you wait for the final whistle. From the West Enclosure/ Stand and South Stand you are pushed and Jostled, the exits onto Filton Ave are poorly lit with lots of kerbs. I choose to make my way out when there is 3 mins of added time left. I managed to see the goal by loitering by the gap between the West enclosure and the tent.
