www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42696968Well what a bizarre turn of events. Graham Westley appointed as head coach. Seems to me they have realised Mark McGhee is no good but don't want to have to pay him off after 2 months of appointing him.

All done with the best of intentions by their chairman I'm sure, but you've gotta laugh! What an absolute farce!

McGhee is a blight on football. Do these chairman not do their research?! One look at his bizarre conduct with us and he would never get another job again.

Haven’t been on their website but seem to remember from Conference year that their fans all seemed to hate Westley. Something to do with their rivalry with Stevenage going back years. Let’s face it Westley seemed to spend his time insulting other clubs at one stage. Quite a surprising move, I was expecting Martin Allen to go back! UTG!

I was actually thinking that with Martin Allen. Would have been a good appointment to be honest for both parties. Regardless of how many times he has been there!

If they had he would never work as a manager in the league again. Can’t be a**** to look up anything to do with him but in his early years he did well at Reading, Brighton, Leicester (?) and Wolves was it? How did he become so rubbish? UTG!

An easy to answer question to my mind, he is a journeyman manager who has become jaded and hasn't got any fire in his belly anymore. Some of his decision making at Rovers demanded sacking on the spot. Parkes on the wing and Virgo up front. He was blatantly taking the water and it looks like things haven't improved for him since.

Yes. You’re probably correct about him. I think he planned, wanted Fergies job when he left United. Sounds stupid now I know but I think that was his intention. When he realised he was never going there perhaps, as you said, fire went out of him. UTG!

I think he applied for the assistant manager role under Fergie when his stock was reasonably high. Having played under him at Aberdeen I think he assumed he might be done a favour but Fergie was clearly wise and McGhee clearly deluded.

Fergie recommended him for the Wolves job and soon regretted doing so.

Don't like to see any club fighting for their league status, the memory is too raw. However, I will say that it couldn't happen to a nicer set of fans. I will never forget how they were singing "That's why we're champions" at us following their lucky 1 - 0 win at their place in the season before last. We had absolutely battered them for 80 minutes but it was just one of those matches. I remember getting soaked through on the walk back to the underground station after the match. Not one of my fondest away days.

I got that from a few other reports about when he didn’t get the Celtic job in 2009 and went to Aberdeen instead. Whatever, he’s certainly had a huge fall from then to now. UTG!

I got that from a few other reports about when he didn’t get the Celtic job in 2009 and went to Aberdeen instead. Whatever, he’s certainly had a huge fall from then to now. UTG! "Without his influence Wolves wouldn’t have happened.” But that experience started to go sour following a failed promotion bid with owner Jack Hayward declaring he would no longer be the “golden tit” supplying endless finance. McGhee was sacked (his career dismissals amount to five) and his association with Ferguson curdled. “I don’t recall an actual fall-out but something happened and we no longer had the more intimate relationship that had existed for a long, long time. “Now? There’s no contact between us. We shake hands if we find ourselves in the same room but that’s it. There was speculation about a problem between Darren [Ferguson’s son and a Wolves player] and myself but the pair of us got on okay. “I reckoned at the time Fergie was disappointed that, in his eyes, I failed at Wolves and still think that’s the most likely cause. “He’d led me to believe that, if I made a success of the job, then I’d be a contender to succeed him at Manchester United.” Does McGhee regret they’re no longer close? “It’s unfortunate but I’m over it. And I’m content that since he’s withdrawn his influence I’ve been able to get other jobs. I’m still in the game and still working, despite him having placed a cross at my door!” www.scotsman.com/sport/football/teams/aberdeen/interview-mark-mcghee-on-football-ambition-and-delusion-1-3967258

Genuinely feel sorry for them, we know the same story far too well and know where it ends up.
