I'd be happy to hear that he's staying with us.

I can't believe some of the people on here and there attitudes towards a player that has played a huge part in our rise back up to where we are today - its quite disgraceful.
In May 2014 Harrison was a young player but had an awlful attitude and I wanted him gone. However our manager gave him a 2nd chance and he turned himself around and has been a quality squad player for us since.
If DC feels he is worth a new contract than that's ok by me, as Ellis still has bags of potential - even this is his last chance to he take his game up to championship level over the next year or two.

Let's just agree to disagree I will agree to disagree... but I do have a question for you.... At what point, in your opinion, should we give up on Ellis? Ellis has scored nearly 40 goals for the Gas, including some vital ones. He is 23 years old. In the last two seasons he has had to up his game to keep track with our progress as a club. He has been a bit inconsistent but it is clear that he has the ability to do well in this division and is still improving. I'm nowhere near giving up on him just yet, though I understand that he can be frustrating.

If DC wants him for next season that's good enough for me.
Frustrating at times and you always feel there is more to come from him, but at 23 he is still young and learning.
Let's hope he can do an OC and have a breakthrough season and become the striker we all think he can be.

Good news.
Ellis is worth a place in the squad.
He might/ might not do what we believe he could do. But even at his current level- he's worth having.
He's not the messiah, he's Elis Harrison.

If we can get a 20+ goal striker to replace the Snakes goals and bring in somebody else to chip in with 10+, along side Ellis and Gaffney as back up then that's not a bad strike force at all.
Not to mention if Billy Bodin starts the season on fire, which he hasn't for the 2 previous seasons, then there's no reason why he shouldn't be aiming to get close to 20 goals next season either.

Agreed, there is a real opportunity for Ellis to improve this season due to the fact that we have not been promoted and moved up a level. He has age on his side, knows the standard that will be expected of him in the league and in DC surely has the most positive, ambitious and capable manager he could ever hope for. I don't think anyone would have expected Ollie Clarke to come good last season but he did to everyone's surprise. We all know Ellis has been inconsistent in the past but he definitely has the raw talent as a striker - Northampton anyone? As long as we also bring in a couple of decent strikers then I for one would be happy to see him stay for another year to see if he can build up his confidence and improve on his consistency. UTG!

Everyone saw Ollie getting better and better, Ellis just uses up his chances year upon year. If he carries on with with his lackluster, inconsistent performances this season, he's gotta go.

If next season follows this season's course then RG & EH will be fighting for the CF position, not both being seen as just back up strikers. If that's the case I can't honestly see them being part of a top 6 strike force, it'll be a total nightmare if DC brings in LJ to play alongside them. Let's just hope we get some more positive transfer new soon.

No more "he's young, he has potential" nonsense. He needs double figures this season and anything less and I will concede you were right. What would you consider good enough next term for you to admit you were wrong? It will depend on how much game time he gets obviously. But he needs to be pushing a goal every 3 - 4 games really. so 11-15 on a full league season. That's to be a third choice striker.

Yes I would be well happy with that, who's our 1st & 2nd choice strikers then Messi & Ronaldo?

What would you consider good enough next term for you to admit you were wrong? well... to fulfil some of this 'potential' everyone keeps claiming he has, score on a regular basis, look like he could give a sh!t every time he plays.. not just when his mum shows up. Everyone keeps saying the same thing with Ellis... has potential, needs to step up, this will be his season, show more consistency... it's getting old now, he's 23 and played a hell of a lot of games for us and we say the same thing year on year. I think he should move on, he signs contracts here because it's the easy option... I THINK WE SHOULD MOVE ON

According to some, he's the most talented player at the club and has bags of talent as well as being the best finisher at the club. Sadly the reality is that on average he strolls around for 300-400 minutes, scores a goal, might have even been a penalty and they don't even count, and then he repeats the process without doing anything else. Might even chuck in a cheeky assist for the opposition if he's feeling generous.
15 at the very least next season if he signs.
