I am not bother whether we are or if they are.
Does it really matter.
I just want to see the Gas do well. End of.
If we play them in the league, great, don't miss going to Trashton and abused and things chucked at me though.

It hasn't surprised me that BB has got the reaction from the majority that he has but I think its a reasonable debate.
I think a big part of being "bigger" also has a lot to do with history. They are historically a team between tier 2 and 3 and have had the odd spell in the top tier. Whereas we are historically a tier 3 team and have had the odd spell in the second tier. So, as gashead79 said, even if we were to go past them in the league it would take a long time to become "bigger" than them because it takes a long time for the present to become history. They are ahead of us in terms of finances, facilities, fan base, league position and history. For all of this to change, we would probably have to be above them in the league for as long as 15-20 years.
I think the point that people are missing though is, do we really want to be bigger than them? Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. Everyone loves an underdog and I personally like being a "smaller" club than them. This way, its sort of like it can only get better. They thought we were dead and buried as a club three years ago, and now we are fighting back and the "huge gap" that they are talking about is closing more and more year on year. They enjoy laughing at how tinpot we are and let them do it. It is just expected that they are a better club than us, that they'll beat us when we come to play eachother and that they'll always finish above us. But at some point in the (hopefully near) future, we will beat them and we will finish above them, and when we do its going to be so satisfying for ragbag Rovers.
Until then, enjoy the ride, and laugh along with them at what a state we are. UTG!

Bluebutterfly, you posted almost this exact same post when you joined up, remember? It led to me calling you out a a Ted and then others sprang to your defence.....remember?
What didn't you get from the last post? Not quite enough people watered off?
Why are posting the same stuff over and over, and why is it usually things which are likely to upset people or court controversy? There's a difference between debate and relentlessly pursuing the same broken record for the sake of manufacturing an argument.
All these questions need to be answered.

If I'm completely honest I think it is very very unlikely as I just can't picture us ever spending the millions it takes to be a successful Championship side. I would say that although the tables show a 15 team gap between us-that gap is really a wide one but you can never say never and we can but hope. We should get news very soon as to whether we are going to even up things a bit off the field as the NEW STADIUM is the biggest indication of where we are heading. Failure to get the UWE will IMO be the end of any hopes to progress much beyond the present position and would mean that the only way we would ever become bigger than them on the pitch is if they come down. Those who say about a B plan if UWE falls through - well in truth it will just take far too long to go through processes all over again as is proven with history. As far as I am concerned it is now or never and with it any hope of improving.

Well, it was now or never in 2013. It was now or never when we had a chance to develope the mem in 2008. It was now or never when we were trying to find a new place when we were stuck in Bath. It was now or never when we had to leave Eastville.
It's never never. These opportunities are like a Bristol bus, you don't know when another one's gonna turn up. But it's bound to eventually.

They are bigger regards stadium and attendances etc BUT they under perform year on year in relation to the tax fiddled money invested might be "bigger" but definately not better 😀😀 Agree absolutely. A lot of the problem here, is that most posters cannot differentiate between BB`s use of the word "bigger" and their own use of the word "better". Even if Bill Gates took City over, and pumped a Billion Pounds into them, it still wouldn`t make them better than us. Not in my opinion, anyway.

FAO Port said Red, I couldn't be bothered to give a counter argument to threads like this, there is your response, enjoy another struggle this season and to more wasted money from the Tax dodger. Oh yes, you can rest assured the above Shithead, or one of he other retards will be gleefully posting this onto the mammoth Gas thread on One Turd. They will w@nk each other off on this one for at least 2 pages. But as so many posters keep reminding us that they "dont give a toss" about the city so what goes on their forum dosnt matter does it? This is one of the things that confuses me,lots on here know every little thing that goes on the city forum even though they are not at all interested in them?

I dont think the thread your referring to was the same? Some people on here cant cope with anything thats not totally partizan in favour of our club and just shout down any post or thread they dont like. A bit like play ground bullies. It greatly reduces the forum as a place of proper debate in my view.

BB The start of friendlies and new signings, will mean a lot of those fans that can't be bothered to debate will simply go back to their normal subjects. We don't agree on a lot of subjects; but I didn't see a lot wrong with your original post. UTG

Ok, so it was fine to talk about the other lot when they were on their losing run towards the end of last season, now they are safe and spending big suddenly its wrong to mention them?
They are always in direct competition with us for new fans, so of course what they do affects us, a lot more than the other way around.
The reason they talk about us a lot is because they thought when we were relegated out of the league that would be the end of us, now we are back and apparently in a lot better financial position and its annoyed them somewhat. Why they have a massive thread on us and not Cardiff god only knows, guess it makes them feel better?
City were mentioned in the thread title, if you don't like it don't open it eh?
