Bluebutterfly, you posted almost this exact same post when you joined up, remember? It led to me calling you out a a Ted and then others sprang to your defence.....remember? You also made jokes about you and your friends shagging his mother... remember? Even when it was pointed out to you that his mother was deceased, you carried on...remember?

I dont think its beyond the realms of possibility for us to become a bigger club than them in the future as long as wael is the real deal. He wants to build a sustainable club and give our supporters what in his words "we deserve". Nothing lansdown has done has been along those lines although it cannot be argued they now have a developed stadium and a decent average gate. But everything city have done in recent history involves the owner writing off large debt. Point is that if wael can actually deliver a sustainable successful football club it might just be able to overtake the spend thrift hopeless model that is lansdowns bristol sport.

I think some people struggle to differentiate between whether or not they care, and whether or not they want to care. Plenty of people want to talk about them when they are failing but don't when they are doing well. And as a gashead, that's obvious. You would rather see them struggling than succeeding and therefore it is easier to talk about them when they are on a poor run. But that doesn't mean that you don't care when they are doing well, you still care very much, its just that you are waiting for a time when they are going badly again so that it is enjoyable to talk about them. edit - and just to cover myself, I'm not talking about everyone in this post. I appreciate that some people really don't give a toss what they are doing.
That's a good point. Which makes it even more strange how the teds have such a massive thread on us during a time we have enjoyed a lot of success when you look at where we were!
They have built nothing up, just been bankrolled by one of the richest guys from the area whilst still losing 13 million a year. If that makes them proud and gives them a reason to poke fun of the smaller neighbours then so be it.
Your posts on this thread, have all been spot on. Whether or not we`ll ever be in a position to spunk away the thick end of a hundred million quid, while yo yo ing between the Championship and League One, is a moot point. If there was a league table for clubs who have spent so much, for such little success, City would surely be up near the top. Who wants to be like that? Their fans are like a five year old child, boasting to his friends that his parents can afford to buy him things, that theirs can`t.

Regardless of who bankrolled, their infrastructure is a country mile ahead of ours. Their academy is already producing and their PR and media are so far ahead it would take us a number of years to just equal that. I've been going since 68 and, the 1982 debacle apart, they have always had bigger support and the sale of ST's alone puts us way in their looming shadow Just the facts mam

Blewflutterby. Will we ever be a bigger club than the sh**e? Yes, we're the originals. I smell you and I smelled you from day one. In DC we trust. You want discussion, then I have 1 simple question for you and it's a "Yes" or "No" answer I'd like if that's not too much to ask? Would you consider it a wonderful season next year if The Rovers got promoted and the shiite got relegated? I'm expecting quiet. UTG

I thought it never happened. Your mum said you'd say that, last night. I'm not sure if she was talking to me, there were a lot of people in the room. That's the kind of joke that was made and you would have to have the emotional stability of a ten year old to infer a direct critique of ones own mother from that. I'll try not to tell a knock knock joke in case you once got assaulted. I have a relative with alzheimeers and I find being asked if I remember is deeply offensive - see how easy it is to manufacture grievance? cock off.

I would happily stay in the shadow if it meant we didn't lose our identity and become a plastic club with a plastic fanbase and ownership as they have.

We were arguably bigger than them by a whisker in the 50"s and for a short time maybe post 1982. Could we realistically be a bigger club than them in the reasonable future? bigger= higher average attendance equally good ground equal or higher league There average attendance was 19,256 last season They just paid 5.3 million pound for a player beating our record by £4,950,000 a sobering thought. The championship is becoming a mini premier league, they are in it and we are outside it. I know people hate them and all conversation on here about them is fantasy island stuff. But can we possibly overtake them? Or is that just plain impossible? Maybe.
