Quick delete before anyone else looks Or alternatively discuss a taboo subject? Almost like intelligent people? I have a reasonable IQ, according to yourself. im really hoping that the posters on here with reasonable IQ"s come on and make some comments on my list like socrates, ballotelli, last minute winners, steve k and more. I just find the constant threads, from everyone on City a little embarrassing.

Both Bristol City and Bristol Rovers have had the same exact potential long term in regards to potenial fanbase growth.Always have done, always will do until either club reach there long term potential.
They won't agree tho, as in there heads we only took 27k to Wembley two years ago for our non league final when in reality it was only a humble 32k and they forget that every other time we have played at wembley or Cardiff we have taken 35k- 40k (42k plus in 2007).
In 2015 against Grimsby our fanbase was still very devided and broken.I knew many gasheads that would never watch BRFC in the non league, even at wembley. Also BCFC played there a month before so many Bristolian daytrippers went to see them and wouldnt go again weeks later to see us.
Nither club have done F- all of any note in national football during there respected historys. The closest was Citys top level run in the 1980s and playoff final in 2008.
The gap they always speak of was created due to us going backwards as a club between 2000- 2014 rather than BCFCs growth.
During that gap years...or last time we were above them, they have spent 10 seasons at L1 level (our current level) and 8 in the Championship. The way they talk about that said gap is like that are Man Utd and we're are Rochdale or Bury compared to them...It complete rubbish!
Facts are -
BCFC have always had more money invested in there club then we have had at the Gas.So are bigger in that area than us.
Ashton gate has always been a better stadium - well since the 1970's than what we have had in north bristol or in bath... so again, they are bigger than us in this are also.
But its only been these past 18 months where the have be able to buy the bricks and mortar and build the wonderful new Ashton gate to take there club into the next level.Pantsdown has spent £200 million on Bs3 and they still have done F- all of any note in over 10 years of spending!
May 2014 was needed for us as a club, and in hindsight was a blessing looking back on it.We needed to heal a club that was dying from the moment we moved to the mem in 1996 as we were not growing as a club during the dunford and higgs era so were going backwards.
Now with how much better we have become as a complete football club over these past 3 years,it's not about our club aiming to become bigger than Bristol City. It's about us reaching our potential as a football club.
If our aim is only be as good or as big as BCFC are then we ain't ( no disrespect to city fans ) going to be very good.

Ok, so it was fine to talk about the other lot when they were on their losing run towards the end of last season, now they are safe and spending big suddenly its wrong to mention them? They are always in direct competition with us for new fans, so of course what they do affects us, a lot more than the other way around. The reason they talk about us a lot is because they thought when we were relegated out of the league that would be the end of us, now we are back and apparently in a lot better financial position and its annoyed them somewhat. Why they have a massive thread on us and not Cardiff god only knows, guess it makes them feel better? City were mentioned in the thread title, if you don't like it don't open it eh? Absolutely. It does make me chuckle, when all the fans who couldn`t care less about Bristol City, instantly blow a fuse the second they`re mentioned.

In my experience the ones who moan about City being mentioned on a Rovers forum are actually the ones who care the most about them and because they are so far ahead of us cant bring themselves to discuss it.

I think some people struggle to differentiate between whether or not they care, and whether or not they want to care. Plenty of people want to talk about them when they are failing but don't when they are doing well. And as a gashead, that's obvious. You would rather see them struggling than succeeding and therefore it is easier to talk about them when they are on a poor run. But that doesn't mean that you don't care when they are doing well, you still care very much, its just that you are waiting for a time when they are going badly again so that it is enjoyable to talk about them. edit - and just to cover myself, I'm not talking about everyone in this post. I appreciate that some people really don't give a toss what they are doing.

How about we give the guy a break? Starts a thread about, compared to some, something we can debate about, and then gets slaughtered.
So what if it doesn't appeal to some? So what if posters don't care because it involves the 'other' side? I have nights out with the lads that involves innuendo, change of topic, few jokes thrown in for fun, even song titles and artists.
This place, jeez.

That's a good point. Which makes it even more strange how the teds have such a massive thread on us during a time we have enjoyed a lot of success when you look at where we were!
They have built nothing up, just been bankrolled by one of the richest guys from the area whilst still losing 13 million a year. If that makes them proud and gives them a reason to poke fun of the smaller neighbours then so be it.

I think that's because they still see as us a laughing stock due to the fact that despite all our success we are still below them and we still haven't got the ground that we have been waiting so long for and failed so many times with. They also like to poke fun at Wael for the fact that he hasn't delivered on it yet and they think that the support we show for him is blind faith. Whether they are right or not, only time will tell, we've just got to keep the faith. UTG!

They could be right sadly, we have spent a bit (in Rovers terms) on a couple of players, but crowds have been up this season. As you said time will tell...

Bluebutterfly, you posted almost this exact same post when you joined up, remember? It led to me calling you out a a Ted and then others sprang to your defence.....remember? What didn't you get from the last post? Not quite enough people watered off? Why are posting the same stuff over and over, and why is it usually things which are likely to upset people or court controversy? There's a difference between debate and relentlessly pursuing the same broken record for the sake of manufacturing an argument. All these questions need to be answered. I dont think the thread your referring to was the same? Some people on here cant cope with anything thats not totally partizan in favour of our club and just shout down any post or thread they dont like. A bit like play ground bullies. It greatly reduces the forum as a place of proper debate in my view. Ahhh - THE VICTIM. See a therapist mate, that's classic cluster B. Funny that you've lost your memory. Your view is to smirk as you push buttons and feel a sense of power in creating reactions.

You say selective memory so by all means show me the thread you are referring too so you can prove your case. If you cant find it see if your big enough to admit your wrong? As for your infantile psycho analysis,i dont feel a sense of power, just frustration at a group of people on here killing any meaningful debate.

The trouble is ...we are not Bristol Citys rivals...they have made that very plain...their Rivals are Cardiff City. So we don't need to contemplate the question really. Maybe our rivals are Forest Green Rovers....and BRFC are definitely bigger than them (at this point in time) As for BCFC and their rivals....They are way behind Cardiff City...who are MUCH bigger than them.

I'm sorry if anyone had already said this, I haven't got time to read back through the thread.
Whichever team gets to the Premier league first will become the larger club for the forseable future.
There are a lot of glory supporters in Bristol, who would jump at the chance to see their beloved clubs play locally. The Mem/UWE would be a sell out every week.

Its called "i made up some old rubbish syndrome" When people who have this condition get found out they resort to abuse. Sadly my friend there is no cure for you. Im sorry
