Good strikers generally need to be pried away from a club, as they're always in demand. This takes times, so often the last signings in any transfer windiw.

If we have got a decent budget, and if wwe knew we needed the number of players that were mentioned, why have we only got 2 first team players in so far ?
When the number of playersthe club wanted were announced they must have had specigic players in mind. What is worrying me is that we do need quality if we are to progress. In some ways, our team of the past 3 seasons temonds me of the team that won promotion under Francis. The team then was assembled on a shoe string budget and one could argue over achieved. The difference now is that we have money (well so we're told). The team has done well to get to L1 but we cannot rely on teenage loan signings and bargain basement players from the conference to get into the championship.

Smith and carayol were hardly a waste of money, Harold put away 18 in one season making him well worth the free transfer, Bevan wasn't that bad, I quite liked anyinsah at times as well, they weren't all bad Anyinsah was hopeless. Never understood how he got away with such little flack yet Zebroski would get so much stick. Also Bevan was poor with us. In fairness to Buckle, a lot of his signings on paper made sense. It was his man management that let him down more than anything. You don't come out and blame individuals to the media. Matter of opinion isn't it, as I said I thought he was alright AT TIMES, and I thought Bevan was wasn't bad.. point is the signings weren't the problem that year imo

Anyinsah was a good footballer but he had a chronic injury problem. Fair play to him as he was never anything like 100% but played through it.

For "arguments" sake correct me if I'm wrong but didn't every single player (with the exception perhaps of Ian Alexander ) go on the play in the top flight of the football pyramid? One player in each of the accepted positions of a team formation. One even went on to play for England. I repeat "over achieved" I think not

Looking back at all these players over the last few seasons makes me realise how good we are now. Look back and I honestly don't see these names being in a DC team

Yes correct, even if it includes the same tiresome catchphrase directed at the Manager!!! He never said we will have ten new players, fit for the first team, by mid July. He never said we will have ten players in the door by the start of the season. According to SH , DC gave him a list of about 3 players for each position, with a list of priorities. I would have thought the goalkeeping area was the main priority & he has brought two in that should be capable at this level. He has also brought the lad in from Oxford, at a cost. Most fans happy with those - so not completely clueless then? I expect DC & SH have thought, well that's not bad for a start, we will give it a few weeks before we look for a couple of strikers, we'll probably put a few feelers out, week after next & see what's about then. Yeah right. As not much real news, gets leaked out from our people now, how do any of us know what's going on with us trying to get the strikers that DC wants, but the analogy of a whining spoilt kid, certainly fits a few on here. "i want that striker!!!" Sorry he doesn't want to come here. "But I want him, whaaaa" "But you said we can have a striker". We will have a striker, but we are not going to get one we don't want or doesn't fit the structure of the club, we will wait for the right fit. "But I want one now, whaaaa" "I think we should have that striker" No we can't afford that one, he wants too much money. "Ohhh, but I want that one, whaaaa" Just expressing my view of course. Good to know your views but I think you grossly overplay and mis-state what people have actually said on here and I do not recognize any of your quotes coming from forum members. My own view is that we have be slow in recruitment compared to others and I can understand the frustration expressed by some. As you say, just my view of course. Of course we have been slow in comparison to some other teams but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'd like to see the cost of the players we've signed and do sign in comparison to the players that other teams signed earlier in the Summer. I'd also like to see the quality of those players and who get better value for money, because I'm quite confident that it'll be us, and I'm willing to wait for that.

Right.....we are 4 points off auto with 8 to play. Injury strikes all of our strikers, having to play beard upfront. Matt Taylor has scored 38 for BCFC but has a dramatic change of heart, comes out publicly on TV burning a city shirt and begs Rovers fans for a pay as you play contract after ripping up his city contract....
Would you have him back?

Would you have him back? If DC signs him I doubt it makes any difference what we think anyway, but who wouldn't cheer when he scored his first goal if he did return? Personally I'd sooner he played for us rather than against us for Oxford etc.
