A while ago - and I can't remember where - Steve Hamer said The Colony plans were with South Gloucester council for "pre planning agreement". He said this takes about 6 weeks.
I'm pretty sure six weeks has long since passed, and as always we haven't heard a thing.
Does anyone know what's going on? Have I missed an update on this? Or did I imagine Hamer said it?

Yes all things are on hold. That's why we have signed new coaches and a lot of young talent looking at the future!
Nobody else seen any of the recent interviews then? That's why DC signed a new long term deal and we have increased the playing budget and started paying fees for players.
Does not look like things are on hold to me. Maybe they want to announce everything at the same time??

If I recall SH said pre - planning discussions will take place before formal submission of the plans. I don't believe anything (pre-planning documents) has been submitted yet to even talk about. I'm sure Henbury will confirm. Things do seem to be drifting.

Only when a formal application is lodged are the plans/documents made available to the public. How long the pre-application talks take will depend on how happy the planners are with the proposals. They may ask for changes or more detail. The club can either make changes if requested, or say no this is what we're going to submit and see what the planning committee makes of the application. Obviously they will want to submit an application that they think has a good chance of success.

Very easy to put all the blame on Steve Hamer but he is just the poor sod who has to do what he is told whilst others get all the praise.

Totally agree Steve , easy to blame him as he's the one who usually has to front up to all the questions from the press , fans etc and it's probably all scripted by the powers that be !

Seems to me two scenarios we're playing some kind of brinksmanship with the UWE before announcing a deals been agreed and then it'll be full steam ahead on all the projects but in the meantime everything is on hold until a deal is agreed, or the ALQ's can't now raise the finance for the deals and the UWE/The Colony projects are now both dead, as all the positive updates seem to have stopped, but how much longer can Wael/SH avoid the press once the season starts?
I doubt DC knows what's going on but when Wael dangled a 5 year improved contract in front of him he would have been a fool to turn it down.

Wael has always said finance is not a problem, so what can we do other than believe him? To be cynical about this seems wrong though because money is being spent in areas we haven't seen before.

Seems unlikely this facility will be ready for start of 2018/19 season. This is a disappointing situation and I do wonder what's holding up seeking planning permission and development of this site. The honeymoon has ended and normal service has been resumed.

In fairness to him I feel there is now a lot of pressure (by a lot of people) for him to deliver - he raised the expectation bar in the first place.

The honeymoon has ended and normal service has been resumed. there could be lots going on. but we just don't know with zero communication that we have had. it's little bit dissapointing as I think everyone expected that 18 months down the line the the New owners would be moving things a long full steam ahead. Yes the playing side and the coaching staff looks as it they have moved on in the way its setup, and we've spent something on players... but now it's beginning to feel like it did before with blind faiths that anything off the pitch will advanced.

Agreed, I bet he really regrets the landing lights comment. Unfortunately that will be associated with him for ever!

Let's not forget they apparently uncovered A very one sided agreement with the UWE and this has taken time to sort out. I am sure it will all work out! π

Agreed though we are sure it will be sorted out to progress to construction.

Agreed though we are sure it will be sorted out to progress to construction. If the initial deal was that good then I guess it would have been signed ... there are problems to iron-out or why else would it not all be signed, sealed and delivered by now. Unfortunately, I don't share your optimism as I think we would hear encouraging noises again if a deal was close.
