Club has to come out now and be transparent with us.....I might be naive but imo there are 2 possibilities here....1. We are bluffing to get a better deal as uwe have now publicly stated they want a stadium or 2. We simply do not have the finance and uwe want it known it is us walking away..... If its 3. 'Just not a good deal for long term future of club etc' come out and tell us!

I assume it will be number 3. Too many people assuming "no deal" means that there are no funds or it was just a case of not being able to agree a price. When in actual fact it could quite possibly be the terms of the deal, i.e the ownership of the land, naming rights or any number of issues. Just have to have faith that "no deal" means the best for the club.

Or 1 & 3. Not a good deal for the club as it stands and pulling out also works as hardball tactics.

He forgot to mention that they were asking "Residential Land Values" for the Freehold.

Something smells fishy. And I do believe it's coming from Wael's vicinity. It's no longer possible to hide behind DC's success on the pitch. He needs to provide the fans with a full and honest explanation.

Who do you trust,
compromises have been made so he says. To what extent?
I am getting the impression, the family just dont want to part with their own money.

Don't you think that there's just the smallest chance that the UWE bloke might have been talking from his point of view, and with the interest of UWE in mind, maybe?

Good point....uwe are def shaken by this....a statement and a live interview within 2 hours when no comment for years! This is a business masterstroke by our owners to get a better deal as uwe are now clearly desperate for it....or this is the best chance of a stadium ruined by lies

I believe the owners are tight and have screwed up. They wanted to get a stadium on the cheap and UWE have stakeholders to answer to so they couldn't go below a certain price. This is just my opinion, given we've received no meaningful update for....well, ever?

I had it from the horses mouth back around Xmas time that UWE were pushing for £2m per acre for development to compensate for a loss in commercial revenue that would now go to the club rather than what Higgs gave away to the UWE.
Terms of the original deal were £1m per acre for the leasehold and £1.5m for freehold, one of the previous directors told me that. And that is residential land value right there. Which is barmy for commercial land, land which is also locked by covenant and could only be used for certain types of use.
I guess that is where the biggest sticking point is. It raises land costs by around £35m up front. Add to the £30m build cost which could escalate, its become a huge white elephant. I also know that the Al'Qadi's looked at putting hotels and conferencing venues outside the stadium, looking at other ways to draw in extra revenue as well as putting in extra funding, that is what the consultation report was really about. I know this because the architects that drew the plans are the same architects that drew plans for the UWE.
No matter how much money you have, there is always a line drawn on its value and also on investment and return, I have realised that with a particularly big client I have recently drawn to my business, even people with wealth dont want to overspend if completely necessary. The Al'Qadi's aren't daft, they will be able to see and realise potential verses investment. £70m, even for someone like Lansdown is big money, and it will need to regenerate somewhere down the line and if you arent going to see at least a 5% return based on that investment from commercial opportunities, then there is little point in pursuing it.
Sadly, as with all modern football clubs with huge stadia, the football club is part of a bigger business, the playing side essentially being a loss leader to draw a form of revenue which will advertise other aspects of the stadium. Get it right, and it can be hugely profitable, but you have to get it right.

Totally agree if this was Higgs era and we hadn't recieved a proper statement just a forced brief statement after a club leak there would be a lynch mob
