Interesting reading, especially the amount of developement land that will be available. I believe there may be a new motorway exit on the M49 to give direct access to Avonmouth. www.insouthglos.co.uk/enterprise/avonmouth/m49-avonmouth-junction/westofenglandlep.co.uk/place/enterprise-zone-and-areas/ea-avonmouth-severnside www.insouthglos.co.uk/enterprise/avonmouth/Strategic location, motorway links and the proximity to the port could be highly attractive to potential UK and international investors Suitable for warehousing, distribution, industrial and environmental technologies 1,800 hectare area - approx 650 hectares developableAllocated employment land in core strategies 1957/58 planning permission in place Currently marketed areas could build out in five years (e.g. Central Park, Western Gateway, and Astra Zeneca) Deliverables Avonmouth (84 hectares) 277,168 square meters commercial floorspace within 25 years Potential job growth 2,000 β 4,000 to 2026 Severnside (462 hectares) 1,323,630 square meters commercial floorspace Potential job growth 4,000 β 8,000 to 2026

Interesting read for you maybe, but for some of us it's just the same old same old.I've personally given up hoping we will ever get a new stadium, I now wonder if we will even get a significantly improved Mem.

How would the club make money out of a stadium in the middle of a massive industrial estate? Non-matchday revenue is probably the most important aspect of a new stadium but I can't see there being much interest in something like a hotel, gym, supermarket etc. Not to mention the public transport links which are pretty much non-existent.

Go have a look at Pride Park (Derby County Ground) bang in the middle of an industrial estate when it was first built... now look at what entertainment facilities have been built near by...

And so it all begins again, haven't you learnt from all the past stadium failures?

Build a load of bars up there, train station / bus stops. Make it into something special. Much better then developing the mem which even Tony the Till knew would never work financially.

New junction on M49, the Field Lane two bridge site is due to start construction before the end of this year.A new Bridge will be constructed alongside the existing bridge and a roundabout will be built over the motorway. The site is exactly halfway between the M4 M5 junctions of the M49. As regards a hotel etc, why not, ideally located for travellers and as this will serve the largest brown field site in Europe, surely plenty of other opportunities. The sort of place a Bristol indoor arena could be built and with the luxury of a car park and yes it's outside Bristol but as is the NEC outside Birmingham.

Build it and they will come! A lot of gasheads need to smell the coffee and accept if the UWE site was not suitable nowhere anywhere near the Mem will be. Brownfield has got to be the way to go with few planning and local population pressure group problems to deal with.

I defy anyone to stand around there for more than 10 minutes and not have a strong desire to leave.

We are talking about the Avonmouth Severn side enterprise zone far removed from the Avonmouth of old situated alongside the M49 and a long way from St Andrews road etc.

But the bit to the north is like a wasteland, imo. I guess if they landscaped it a bit they might make it bearable, but it just always feels exposed and desolate, to me.
