Wael mentioned the stadium architects he was talking to had not built 1,2,3,4 but 12 stadiums. Any idea who they are ?
HOK was involved with Wembley and MK Dons both had connections with the previous uwe project. they also were involved with the Olympic stadium, millenium stadium ,Silverstone ,ascot ,Lyon to name a few.
any ideas

The uwe stadium was a single tier where as the old mem plans were two tier. Its why the new Chelsea stadium will be three tier all around. To fit into the site.
"New Mem " will be two and maybe three tier on main stand....I would think. Yeah maybe having big stands around the other three sides is impossible but if we had a massive main stand that held about 8000 then if the others only held 4000 in each then that's 20, 000 in total. Believe it when I see it but I think it's possible in the area we've got to work with the real challenge is planning and the appeals that would go with it.

so Brighton and Cardiff to look at for examples. Interesting how they built the main stand at Leicester tigers whilst the old stand was in use still

Aren't they just a construction company rather than a firm of architects? I assume there's a "go to" firm of architects in the UK for stadiums, this could be them as they've worked on a few stadiums, although there may be a few similar co's: www.afl-uk.com/projects/brentford-community-stadium

The problem will be the height of the stands. The approved scheme with 18,500 capacity plus the student accommodation, was right on the limit of acceptability for enough light reaching the surrounding housing. Not having the student accommodation will give a bit more room for manoeuvre, but to get to 26,000 will be awfully tight. Can't see the Mem ever accommodating 26k. 18k? Reasonable. That would do us. it would only do us if we lack ambition

Sounds pretty ambitious to me, considering what we've achieved on that front so far. It's easy to say you want something, but you have to back it up with practicalities (if you're the owner). I mean, I could say I want a 30,000-er; look how ambitious I am! But it's meaningless. I recall Rovers announcing a 30,000-er in the eighties when I was a kid (can't remember which project this one was, now) and my uncle saying that lacked ambition. Oh for a bit of lack of ambition.

18000 shows a commitment to jump up 1 more league but our potential crowds could very well top that although what i will say is that Lord justice made an earlier valid point in regards to that ,and that is a newly built stadium will fetch the crowds whereas bits here and there more than likely will not have the same effect.

Yeah, it sounds like a good point about the new stadium versus a piecemeal one, although that didn't really apply to our fiends south of the river. I imagine what it would require is a flagship, large, impressive stand opening with some fanfare; that might get more bums on seats. In any case, attendance is increasingly less of a factor in the finances of clubs, especially the higher up you go. Eg in the first tier matchday/attendance used to be nearly all the income you would get, now it's a lot less than half and that is reducing all the time.

We are going to be relegated.
No we won't, keep the faith.
We are in debt.
No we are not keep the faith.
We won't get UWE built.
Sainsbury's are on board. Keep the faith.
Sainsbury's want out.
No they don't, keep the faith.
Higgs wants out.
No, he's a top Gashead. Keep the faith.
WAQ isn't as rich as we think.
He's a billionaire. Keep the faith.
UWE wont happen.
Sure it will. Keep the faith.
We are going to redevelop the Mem.
Not viable, WAQ said so. Keep the faith.
The Mem upgrade is going to be utterly disappointing.
No way mate, 21k total rebuild. Keep the faith.
In the last 5 years the so called negative posters and 'teds' would appear to be the ones ITK.
I've lost all faith.

Stu Sinclair isn't even the best brother. Why can't we recruit properly like Torquay are doing? Matty Taylor will never score at this level. Matty Taylor will never score at a higher level. DC is just recruiting his mates. Bodin's an injury-prone reject. Lines is past it. Leads isn't as good as that other trialist (can't remember his name, now). DC is untried at this level. etc. Don't we as Gasheads pride ourselves on how we cope with adversity? We've coped with the UWE news like a bunch of screaming children.

I'm trying to keep it alive for my kids though! Hugo the Younger bought himself a Liverpool shirt on holiday (His mum is from up there) and I did little to dissuade him. Can't saddle the poor kid with the same sh**e I've put up with for the rest of his life. Years of neglect and broken dreams and nothing to suggest that's going to change.

Remove DC from that equation and that's pretty much all those things shot. We have been incredibly lucky to have unearthed a gem and DC is without doubt the best thing Nick Higgs ever did for the club. How long can we keep him and how are we going to fare without him? Not a screaming child, but just got the the end of the blind faith line. I won't believe anything until I see actual evidence of it happening.
