Our aspersions are top 6 but clearly the boards aspirations aren't. I believe the club want to sit in this league for a year or 2, so don't go up and certainly don't go down seems to be the brief? But hey what do I know! Until the training ground, new ground (wherever, whatever that may be) are sorted, lounging around L1 is probably for the best. I agree Bags, aspirations are from the fans only at present from what I can see? Going into the championship next year would be suicidal for us I know people want it but we just wouldn't be ready.

Agree also and can definitely live with that.

Agreed. Ground not up to it, team not up to it (and doubtful we'll be able to just go shopping for a Championship side), infrastructure not in place to handle it, we're no where near ready for it. As you say, it would do us more harm than good. Stay where we are until we're good to go, maybe a bit of a cup run for a change? I'm still enjoying the fact we're League 1.

Yep spot on, I just hope we get our act together soon ( which I'm sure we will) so that we are not fighting to stay in this league? Comfortable mid table again would be absolutely fine with me.

It a difficult one and you find yourself in a position where you want Rovers to win every game but don't want the reward it ultimately will bring.
Of course the club aren't going to say they will be trying to consolidate in L1 for the next few years as this isn't really a ST seller is it!
I think we will get smashed in the Championship and ultimately wont last long there but what else do you aim for to please the customer?

The return of curry pies and being able to get served at the bar?

The return of curry pies and being able to get served at the bar? We've given up with the bar and bring tinnies. Hate to do it as it's nice to put something more than the admission price into the club but there comes a point when the lack of service gets too much to bother.

Since we moved to the Mem, we have spent:
1 season in the conference 10 seasons in League 2 10 seasons in League 1 0 seasons in the championship
We are roughly the same size club now as we were then. We are at a similar position in the attendance league table (52nd now, 56th in 1996/97) and are competing in the same league, the highest league we've been in at the Mem.
Most agree that it is a massive step up to the championship and that we currently don't have the facilities or capacity to compete on a level playing field in that league.
We will obviously try our best as a club to finish as high as we can and be as successful as we can this season, but why do so many of our fan base expect us to be challenging? We have maintained a steep upward trajectory over the last three seasons. I would suggest that consolidating in mid table once again, whilst partially rebuilding the squad, would be another step forward for the club.

Is it just me or do we seem to have a lot of playstation generation supporters on here who think we can disregard budgets and spend 'virtual' millions on players.
I'm not saying we couldn't do with a couple more signings but by my reckoning we have spent at least £650k on players since January which compared to the past 20 odd years is massive. Add in the wages on top and that is a seriously big outlay but people just want more, more, more. They should be thinking Wow look how far we have come!

It would appear that way FFS were 2 games in and already the melt down has started. Blackburn are tipped to win the league yet they are down there with us at the moment i'll start worrying if we are still in that postion come Christmas

Better than being supposidly close to liquidation and being in the Conference.

If anything i am actually a little concerned at how much we've spent, considering the losses in our accounts in the past few years. Which is why I'd much rather us shop around for free agents and bargains as it isn't going to run us into the ground financially. People think spending money means success, just look at the teds to see that in actual fact that is far from accurate.

I don't know where you have got £650k from, but having thought about this recently, I highly doubt that figure. If we have spent that amount then we have been ripped off and could've spent it more wisely.

It's exactly how I see it too, I know it's been mentioned already but we have really progressed quicker than expected. To be honest I thought we were going to spend a couple/few seasons down in the conference as when we went down our whole set up was a shambles on and off the pitch. To then go from league 2 to league 1 was an even bigger and unexpected climb. In my opinion and feel free to disagree we were ran like a non league side for so many years and are so far behind many teams it's going to take years for us to catch up , even with our current owners. I like yourself ,will happily consolidate in league 1 for however long it takes until we are stable, in regards to a new training ground , improvement with our youth squads and of course new ground / improved mem. I think promotion to the championship right now would ultimately be way too soon as we are just not ready for it , just look at Yeovil ! UTG
