And if the Dunfords hadn't bought the Mem - where do think we would be now? [br Good job the rugby club went bust and we bought it for a song. Fair play to the Dunfords for what they did there but nothing else to shout from the rooftops I would suggest. At least we had a watertight contract then!!! Opinion is well and truly divided on the new owners - time will tell if they are going to deliver or not, but for how long will this situation carry on before the wider fan base become restless. The big decider for me over the next 2\3 months is The Colony - if the commitment by the owners is demonstrated by starting to deliver what they said they would deliver then I will be a bit more relaxed - if not my personal fears as of this moment will be confirmed.

Who signed ward ? Ward then with Higgs permission signed DC please don't argue that Simon so Higgs did sign ward and gave him a contract and Higgs got us back in the league ? Eh? Are we talking about the club or the Managerial merry go round that NH entertained which eventually dropped us out of the football league? If you can't answer my questions don't bother

Only reason Higgs kept dc was because he was the cheapest option at the time. Don't get me wrong Higgs did his best and could of walked away and we would of been finished, but let's not forget he ran the club ( if you can call it that ) like a boys club , we were amateur at every level and it was under his tenure that we were relegated out of the football league and left in total dire straits, I won't get personal as I don't know the guy, but dc sorted our club with his backroom staff and players not Higgs. Dc was pretty much thrown to the lions after ward went 'upstairs' I have huge respect for ward but he was an absolute coward to walk away in the way he did.

Although to be fair he was one of the few (the only one?) who fronted up to angry fans behind the Thatchers (if it was called that then?) after the game. Respected him for that even if he did leave us in a mess at the time.

I was referring to Ward not Higgs by the way. Higgs needed to be escorted out of the car park!

Been watching the Rovers since I was seven in 1957. Quite happy to give our present owners some more time after only 18 month in charge, after all what did the previous owners do in the 58.5 years before they arrived. Nothing! And if the Dunfords hadn't bought the Mem - where do think we would be now? The Dunfords did not buy the Mem - but they did make it possible for Investors to buy the Mem. (Preference shareholders) Some of those investors are still waiting to be repaid. They should have been repaid within five years but 21 years on ?? considerable monies are still owed. A few of the investors including the Dunford family have been repaid but not all

Yes he did front up to the fans as I was watching when he did, kudos for doing that but that was the least he could do as dc was the manager who was in charge and now in the history books for our relegation out of the football league. This was wards relegation not dc's ( in my opinion )

Could be wrong but wasn't John wards mrs very ill when he left??? Yes she was very ill at the time which was awful for him , her and his entire friends and family, however ward still chose to take the reigns when he shouldn't of done as his head and heart would probably of been elsewhere like any human beings would of been. It would of been better all round if he never started the season having all those unfortunate issues taking place in his private life. As an example my mother had to turn down a promotion within the NHS where she worked for many years to take care of my grandmother as she was bedridden and ultimately dying, as much as she would of loved to take on her new role she couldn't as her head wouldn't of been in it. Wrong time wrong place unfortunately.

Brilliant BH reading...... Thread on the UPDATE on the Colony Training ground, somehow does the rounds from Pasty's (the ones that I have had are crap by the way), some random statement stating 'investors' are owed 'considerable monies' from purchasing the Mem, conspiracies that we have not bought the land, to calling JW a coward & blaming him for relegation to the Conf & only 7 pages in.

The main reason the men was not redeveloped was because the student accommodation pulled out 9 years ago at the end of 07/08 season when we finished about 16th in Leauge 1. We lost at home to Brighton on the last game of season and we all thought we would see the last of the poxy stadium.

Yeah, but the food and drink is sh**, right? That's legitimate to say so. Or should we just accept it? As I said before , I don't eat at the mem. But there are more important things in life then a f**king pasty! If you don't like it , don't buy it ! So yeah just accept it and move on. I go to rovers to watch football not for the food , if I wanted to eat nice food I would go to a decent restaurant, not a grotty pasty hut. Ok. Thanks. Can I say that Moore isn't very good then? Or are all complaints off bounds? Thing is, the water poor food and water poor service could be seen as symptomatic of a Board not giving a toss about the fans. Lucky then, that they seem happy to communicate with supporters about things and value the elected Fans Directors. Woo woo!!

Pretty shrewd dealings in the transfer market kept us solvent for 20 years. And they acquired a piece of real estate for 2.5m now probably worth 15m. Dunford and higgs were only modestly wealthy compared to the al qadi's. The new owners have invested nothing. Why buy a football club that needs a new stadium when you aren't prepared to invest the necessary funds to build one. But they are if you take your blinkers of your horse head
