Not quite as bad as the Malta game, but still not good enough. I used to be a Henderson fan, but it's rapidly wearing off. In a moment of frustration I flicked the channel to that Bristol thing, and there was a feature on Trashton Gate. Can the evening get any worse.....??

A win is a win, still not great though. england need a top centre mid, that's what we need too I like Dele Alli and he'll only get better, needs to curb the petulant side of his game though. Mason Mount and Marcus Edwards are good prospects coming through the age groups worth keeping an eye on. As for us, one name: Nick Brisevac.

Although it wasn't great we showed character and belief to come back from a goal down to win the game and fair play to them for that. Not something we would have done with Hodgson in charge I reckon. Seems odd that our players just can't perform like they do for their clubs though, chances for the likes of Ali and Kane that they would score 9 out if 10 for their club get scuffed and go wide or 20 yards over. That mental block is still there and I'm far from convinced that Southgate is the man to get the best out of them.

A bit like a certain Joachim Löw for Germany, and he hasn't done too badly has he.

I went to Wembley last night. Must say it was hugely disappointing. The odd bit of class and some pacey forwards is not going to get results against the better teams. The term 'world class' is banded around too often with english players. Just adds to the argument about how poor the premiership is. Its entertainment not quality football. Brings us back to the efl trophy farce. Need to just bin everything. Get premier teams to play their youngsters in their league and let the top teams have a few crap years until the kids come through. 5th Wembley visit - guess the other 4 - shocking atmosphere and a noticable amount of booing for the Ox & Sterling when subs were made. Went with a large group including a Slovak family - a couple of young kids - who were obviously with us but still got a few 'who are ya' from the local 15 year old spurs fan club. Bit of banter yes but this just dragged on in the concourse on the way out. Give me local football anytime, whatever part of the country you're from Give me local football any day

Worked a treat,hasn't it.

Worked a treat, hasn't it. Well, it's worked in every other international-influenced league. The German league has always had a big influence from other central European nations, the French league from north and west Africa, Italy and Spain from latin America, etc. Occam's Razor says it's a problem with the English (or British) players/game.
