Putting 2+2=5 but I wonder if the HP/UWE deal had a knock on effect to the UWE/BRFC deal? Maybe the deal we wanted would have led to UWE having to pay HP due to non student related income? Physically the site was great but maybe there were so many interested parties muddying the waters that a breakdown in the deal was inevitable once both sides had parity. It appears to me that the deal was on the table ready to sign and was no worse in content than the deal Higgs & Co would have been happy to proceed with (had Sainsburys not reneged). The ‘breakdown’ being due to the unfeasible (freehold etc.) demands of the Al-Qadis. People can decide whether they support the Al-Qadis in their decision or not. What is not in doubt is that 6 years has been wasted on the UWE project and we’re now back to the position we were in 2000, except with very limited options due to the specific requirements of the current owners.Plus, our debt is far greater now than it was then.

Yeah, TRASH won't worry about it, but ROSE will. I bet they're mostly the same membership, though. TRASH will complain that the development is too big or that it loses its historical significance and will be sure to object. Basically anything we do will be met with resistance and generalisation of the average football supporter by the NIMBYs. That's what I can see happening,if it's not TRASH it'll be the same individuals under a different name. Absolutely pathetic, almost like holding us hostage at our own ground.

How do you know that, chief? (First 2 lines)

NH's previous deal was surely irrelevant if the ALQ's wanted the freehold, although as other posters have suggested did it really take 18 months to ascertain that UWE wouldn't let us have the freehold for a price we could afford, I sense we'll never now know the real story.

In 18 months of so called 'negotiations' they (both parties) were unable to even agree the wording for a non-binding Head of Terms, HOA, MOU or whatever you want to call it - probably a document of less than 6 Pages - frankly pathetic!! Quite right, we'll probably never know the true story of this whole sorry saga.

Hopefully, given all that has gone before, the BCC Planning Dept. will see through all the various spurious objections that will no doubt be raised, and grant PP as applied for. After all, they didn't want a supermarket, desperately wanted to retain a stadium which is exactly what they'll get, and a modern, smart looking one at that. The Memorial Gates will be retained, and hopefully enhanced. So what's not to like?

Hani, Hani what went wrong, oh so wrong? we've all been Gasheads for so long. I never thought a guy could cry, When you stated that our dream had died. Oh Hani, Hani just what went wrong? - hurt so bad.
Hani, Hani don't lose your head - lose your head. Hani, I can't believe the words you said.
I can't picture us at the Mem, The future looks awful dim. Oh Hani, Hani just what went wrong?

If people insist on believing the garbage being dished out, then mushrooms have to be the flavour of the month.
We have had this for over 40 years, longer than some of you have lived. Don't you ever learn? Once things don't run to plan the excuses start. If anyone thinks that F/H or L/H was the issue you are dreaming. All that would mean was that we would have had to find an additional £10-£20m to complete the deal. We couldn't even get the funding for the development.
Wake up and smell the mushroom feed. It's obvious that if there ever was funding, it sure as hell isnt there now.
More to the point, it isn't there to redevelop the Mem either.
Without new owners, we won't go anywhere. It's all make believe.

If there are another group waiting in the wings they need front up.

From the man who continually says "I know something but can't say too much, hush hush nudge nudge wink wink - all will be clear in two weeks ... two more weeks ... two more weeks ..." for TWO YEARS! If we're talking about "keep them in the dark and feed them sh1t" then you've grown enough mushrooms to keep the Little Chef all you can eat breakfast bar going until the turn of the century. You and KS need to start thinking up a fresh batch - you're losing your audience.
