No disrespect, but PNE (albeit, great club and fans) are also not all that when you’re looking at the hot hottest prospect in the division below. We can bide our time. He won’t be in a rush- in the summer, he’ll have a pick as a free agent. Yes admittedly, on paper if we are aiming premiership then we should buy ex premier league players or good foreign players. Bodin would likely love to come here though, as we have been around the playoffs in a division above for the last two seasons and look like having another push now. dont agree sorry,if it was derby,Leeds,Villa, boro I would say he would be tempted but Preston are not very attractive

would cost more than that going down Selling Bodin would not guarantee relegation though. Not selling him would probably guarantee not going down though - which is worth the risk. The little time he was injured, we lost 9 out of 11 games so i'd personally rather not take the risk. I think the bigger point I want to highlight though is when I said it must be reinvested back into the budget.

We've definitely bid for him. Whether it actually happens we'll just have to wait and see. No disrespect but given that you look likely to finish mid-table, would you really turn down decent money and lose him for free in the summer, when you would like to strengthen your own squad and a bit of extra cash would help with that? It might look like that on the surface but like many situations in life it's far more complex when you peel away the layers. 1 - if you looked at the table at 2.59 yesterday it didn't look quite as good (although funnily enough it is now still the same number if points from a rele place). We are no way safe. 2 - owners under pressure internally & externally to stop bad news, especially best players leaving. 3 - timing. Jan window is a sellers window - so you'll need to 'put up or be quiet' as the old adage (kind of...) goes. Also we got shafted on final day of window last season - never again! 4 - finally, hopefully billy feels some emotion for us 'saving' his career & would to somehow help us / move on in a positive way, unlike the snake. Here's an idea... I think we should keep him & see what happens in the summer - maybe something can be arranged, bit like Ricky Lambert (& even the snake... It was the timing & the club that ruined that deal). 5 - as for billy, yes he's a grt player & I'm sure he's championship quality. Has had serious injury in past though so caveat emptor. No, actually he's rubbish. Move along... 🤔😂😂

He did, however, hilariously get in the way of Flint's goal-bound shot at only two down yesterday He also "Kicked" a glorious through ball to allow Corey Smith to score the winner against Man Utd. Blimey, it's Debbie Downer.

I think the bigger point I want to highlight though is when I said it must be reinvested back into the budget. Not necessarily, he could get injured etc. We also scored 5 goals without him vs Northampton. We'll have to weigh it up between now and the end of Jan but I think selling him could be a calculated risk worth taking depending on where we are and the fee etc. I just hope we don't do the opposite and sell him for cheap whilst we are struggling not far above the relegation zone.

Why doesn't anyone throw decent money at us, why is ALWAYS derisory bids? Because we have a reputation? Because we don't offer long enough contracts? Yer but were stuck betwixt a rock and a hard place i remember quite a few of us breathed a huge sigh of relief when we went to shorter contracts as it seemed to ignite the players and we had less of the attitude of ah feck it i'm being paid to sit on the bench for the next 4 years and less tantrum throwing, the downside of shorter contracts is what we see now, and at worst what we saw with the snake, you know sign for a year at the last moment then play a few good games then feck off. The real question is where is the middle ground sitting here and going through various scenario's in my head it really can't see anyway around it, again your first point is smack on the swede, we have always been a club that has sold good players as we've needed the money. The reality is the days of getting good quality replacements for players we sell as in Nigel Martyn and Brian Parking are dead and buried, tis time to get rid of agents just a bunch of money grabbing leaches they don't give a stuff about football or players all the care about is how much they can line their own pockets with, but that's a whole other discussion The other issue is prem teams hording players which means that most young players of note get bought up and then never get heard of again. One thing i do wonder is, it seems accepted by everyone Bodin is on his way with no evidence, i can see the reasoning people believe it but, i tend to think would he stay or go if these rumours didn't surface, to put it another way if i was a player and kept reading from fans that i was leaving ,my brain would say well feck it im off.

If BB is to leave then the deal must be completed at the end of the window . So Rovers can get in players without them being inflated because teams think there is cash floating about. I would prefer to hear that he looks at the offers and then agrees a new deal at Rovers.

Surely after yesterday’s result we will now be guaranteed a play off place and BB won’t want to leave once we reach the Championship......🏆😂

But who scored the all important first goal to set us on the way? To replace a 20 goals a season striker would cost us £1m+, Nichols shows what £300K gets you at present! I'd take £750K anything less and I'm not sure gambling on our Div 1 status is worth the risk.

If we were to get anything like £500k, do you really believe the AQ's would let DC spend the lot?
Still waiting Dinsdale

Word on the street I heard Saturday was that we would rather keep him until the summer and lose him for free than sell him, potentially be dragged into a relegation dog fight without him or pay an over inflated price for someone to replace him with no guarantees of him slotting straight into the side and doing well. We all know how DC works. BB is a fantastic attacking midfielder who I see more as a winger who can come inside to do more damage. Good if true. For exactly those reasons I hope he stays but the idea of a good January, be more or less safe, sell him at the end might seem attractive. I suspect a good January given where we are, mid table, would start everyone talking about a late run at the play offs! So unlikely on that basis. UTG!
