Thanks for posting that. Having just looked at FWP’s website it’s interesting to see that that have been involved with the phased redevelopment of Depdale for circa 20 years and achieved planning permission for the master plan of Boundary Park in 2007 with the first phase opening in 2015. That should give people a more realistic view of how long these types of projects take! I was also surprised that the proposal for Scunthorpe’s new ground was only for a 12k capacity. I would have thought that any team with the possibility of Championship football would want 15k to 18k as a minimum. But back to the main topic, if PNE’s training ground is going ahead then I wouldn’t be surprised if B.B. decided to move for the better facilities on offer. It just reinforces what Swissgas said on the other thread. Yeah the stadium took yonks but doing it stand by stand meant it was easier to do it that way and it could be financed as time went on through different means. Work should start on our training ground in the spring as planning was granted in August (could be starting now but we have to wait on bloody newts etc etc.) and it should be completed within 12 months of starting. Our owner already owns the land (an abandoned golf club) and is building houses on other parts of the site to fund the training ground. How big is the PNE training ground site? Be interested to compare to ours given the comment re houses being used to help fund.

Seems like a v ambitious project: “Over 100 acres, 60% of the total land area will be available to the residents of Preston as public open space, covering an area of twice the size of Avenham and Miller Parks combined. “The balance of the land will create up to 450 family homes, including up to 135 affordable dwellings, which will help those highly in need in Preston.“ www.blogpreston.co.uk/2017/08/preston-north-endslandmark-application-to-go-ahead/

Clubs like Barnsley, Preston and Brentford are what we should aspire to be but for now they are a massive step up and I wouldn't blame any professional footballer from choosing them over us.
If billy does leave, I wish him all the best and I don't doubt for a minute that he has what it takes to succeed in the championship.

A golf club had been situated there for years but it wasn't really functioning properly. Kept closing, re-opening etc etc. He's tried twice to develop the whole site with just houses but been thrown out twice. He's tried to compromise this time though, after we decided against buying Bolton's training ground (Wigan bought it instead), TH decided to use the site to get a much needed new facility, and pay for it with 20 hectares of housing, donating the rest of the land to Preston as a park, which is generous. Got rejected at first but got through second time thankfully. The residential development is a good way of funding it really.

Leveraging the sort of goodwill a football club gets (more so up north than down here, to be fair) is a good way to get through developments that might not normally go through if not tied to such a (supposed) community asset. Otoh, down here it seems, people will object to something connected to a football club, as a knee jerk, whatever it is.

Being the tycoon that he is, it felt like some of the stuff people were saying in the meetings was just anti-Hemmings rather than anti-the development, so to speak. Only X amount of people support the club in the city and would benefit etc etc. Second hearing though the fans really got behind it and it got through.

Yes admittedly, on paper if we are aiming premiership then we should buy ex premier league players or good foreign players. Bodin would likely love to come here though, as we have been around the playoffs in a division above for the last two seasons and look like having another push now. dont agree sorry,if it was derby,Leeds,Villa, boro I would say he would be tempted but Preston are not very attractive Preston not very attractive? £3k per week max at rovers £7k per week minimum at preston probably more and 2 and a half year contract. Preston have worked hard to establish themselves in the championship. Preston have a history that makes ours look poor.

Being that we appear to be interested in your Billy Bodin- I wondered how good he was. If your chairman has rejected ‘derisory bids’ it’s likely they have come from us as we like to do things on the cheap. Bodin would have to be good enough for a championship play off push, as that is what we are aiming for atm. As for yourselves good luck for the rest of the reason, it would be nice to see Bristol Rovers in the championship- the Bristol derby would be very interesting. They won’t make the premiership so hopefully you’s can come up soon. You WILL get him on the cheap, don't worry. It's how we roll (over) All the best

There is a possibility that we win a couple of games, climb the table a bit and then the temptation would be to sell Bodin late in the window. I certainly wouldn't let him go now. For instance, say we got 6pts from the next 3 games. We would have 38pts from 29 and would realistically need a point a game until the end of the season to be safe. If you knew he was going anyway the temptation would be to cut your losses, but personally I probably wouldn't have the balls to do it having seen us crumble before. That's exactly how I feel. Hope we have a good Jan. It would be good for both of us if he does well in Jan. Then sell him at the end of the window. At least then we will get something for him. The thing is he could easily get injured between now and the end of the season anyway. Reminded of this discussion when thinking about the window so far. It didn't go in the order we thought but the end result is similar. We even have one more point than I expected.

No. Considering how early we sold him, I'm disappointed we haven't done more business earlier on in this window. I can't for the life of me see us making 2 permanent signings tomorrow now.

I don't know what you mean by no! I haven't expressed an opinion in this - it just reminded me of this discussion. Genuinely have no idea what to expect tomorrow. Wouldn't surprise me to have no signings, could have the two that have been talked about (of which neither would come cheap in terms of wages at least) or a couple of loans. 24 hours from now there will be a lot of traffic on this site!

You might as well add bristol city then, because brentford and preston are propped up by a wealthy owner despite heavy losses.
