Shame to lose Billy, a certainly fantastic and technically gifted player. Hope he does well in the championship!

I heard that we got nearer £750k for Bodin and there is a 30% sell on clause, so fair play to that bit of business. UTG!

I read that it was Prestons end that requested it to be announced as undisclosed.Billy at his best was a pleasure watch. One of the few players we’ve had for a long time that whenever he got the ball in the final third, you knew something special could happen. Unfortunately, the reality is we can’t compete with championship clubs and the step up is too good an oportunity for players at L1 to turn down. Wish him nothing but the best of luck. I cant imagine PNE would look worst from that deal had the figure been confirmed, no way Rovers would have wanted it public, 2 best players gone for pittance within 12 months. And they say decent players arent available cheap in January!!They say it's a difficult time to do business, but yes, City and PNE seem to have done alright. Why are we never ready to pounce when the window opens? Is it the lack of a recruitment team in the background? I sure I read Alex Neil thanking his "team" for the hard preperation work thst enabled this deal to go through early. I guess we're just not set up like that.

Also heard the same from a PNE facebook page Hamer ain’t no businessman, he said as soon as someone triggered the fee they wanted in their minds they agreed, can understand late in the window but it’s like reducing Xmas trees on 1st December, there could have been a bidding war, another deal poorly executed. A talented striker like him being worth less than Doidge who is quoted at 1 million please.

Has Bodin sent us a leaving message at all? Not being needy or anything, but would be a nice touch considering we've been a stepping stone to him now earning a fortune and flirting with promotion to the prem Though I guess we didnt ever have a decent song for him.. Great stuff. Legend. All the best Billy. RTID UTG

Most things about this club is 2nd rate imo.
We sell our best player before some of us had even recovered from our New Years hangover. We could have told them to do one or we would let the contract ride until Christmas, but how much negotiation could have been done over 2 days?
The snake was different as the teds conveniently matched his release fee, but with Bodin we had room to negotiate a better deal especially if it was £400k, which is chicken feed to most if not all Championship sides.

It would almost certainly be chicken feed to Blackburn Rovers!

Ross Barkley going to Chelsea for £15m proves that it’s difficult for any club at any level to get a decent fee for a player when their contracts running down and they refuse to sign a new one. He was having a medical in the Summer for a £35m move and 4 months later has moved for less than half of that because he and his agent will be better off financially for it.
People can talk about our club being a shambles, but the power is in the players hands and they are always going to put their own financial gain before the clubs, especially when they’ve constantly got an agent in their ear.

I agree, but didn't sir Ricky of Lambert sign another contract even though he was shortly to leave so helping our position as a selling club?

Agree players hold all the aces, just look at Carayol and how he engineered a move away.

Because it’s undisclosed I guess we’ll not find out anytime soon but the rumours range from £100k to £750k. I expect few to agree but unless the owners allow DC to spend a bit now and in the summer in one way it doesn’t maytter how much we got unless we spend it on the playing side and tbh I can’t see us going out and spending even £100k on a player now. Im worried it will all go into the general budget. We might spend a bit in the summer but even then I’m not sure we would. It only matters if we know that it will be invested into getting replacements or strengthening the squad and I’m not certain it will. Pretty sure Hamer didn’t say it will all be used on the team. Time will tell. UTG!
