Has the uwe pp lapsed now? Is it officially dead? I think they're still got two and a half hours to start it.

If we're just looking for a site, how about one we already own
Only if entry is free. A few covenants on the planning consent of which I think one was not charging entry to the site Yeah, we would have to get that changed

Only if entry is free. A few covenants on the planning consent of which I think one was not charging entry to the site I think free entry would be the least of the headaches. People are whinging about transport and parking at the Mem for 18-21000. Hows that going to pan out on a country lane ! The Colony will never be a stadium site.
Its going to be a new Mem .
Not saying it would be easy. But there's room for a car park, plus P&R and T&R from Parkway, Aztec West. Is very close to a motorway junction. The lane and junction would need upgrading.
Not advocating, just pointing out a possibility for discussion.
Re building on green belt, sometimes you can, sometimes you can't:

The millions it would cost to build a road that could handle the traffic (including a bus lane ? ) in both directions in place of the country lane .Plus the protest from the villagers ,it wouldn't be worth it . A 21,700 stadium with capability to be upgraded to 30,000+ Very few walk up fans...so 10,000 cars ? that's a big carpark to build as theres no side streets to park in. Then at about 5 oclock on a Saturday eve you are putting maybe 5000 extra cars on the Aztec west junction .
The only possibility would be if there was a complete no parking zone anywhere near the stadium and all fans boarded shuttle buses to various locations.
The infrastructure simply is not there at the Colony for a stadium. A good place would be near abbeywood. Road ,motorway and rail access and plenty of walk up fans. Maybe someone should look into building a stadium there.

You could be right, but other out of town stadia seem to manage. And as I said, park & ride and rail & ride could help, as is used at other grounds. I don't think there's any stadia that assume every single person will drive direct to the ground, as their transport plan.

Yes out of town stadia work well...just the colony site is a particularly bad location . The Easter Compton site would be better especially if a new motorway junction is to be built.

Work has now commenced on the new junction halfway along the M49.

Recent quote from our mayor marvellous Marvin
" At the same time, we have received an offer from a private company to build an arena with their own money on their own land, with the option of us taking a financial stake in that project,” he said. “This would need infrastructure work around transport and access that we would carry out with public money but the private company would build the arena."
umm i wonder who that could be......

Its the well publicised YTL group, who own the Brabazon Hanger. It is also about the arena, a music and entertainment venue, at that land. But you know that anyway dont you HG? Put the spoon down... for some reason people think you know what you are talking about when it comes to planning and developments!
