We need a new ground dont we? Its obvious isnt it? But the atmosphere at a near full mem on an exiting home game like the recent bradford c game is hard to compete with imo. Look at so many games on tv at places like notts co,doncaster, sheff utd and bristol city with the vast empty spaces in the ground and the funeral like crowd noise and you have to wonder if its all its cracked up to be? Like i said we need to join these teams and get a new ground but we will lose something special in the process.

We cannot progress unless we have a new ground that has a lot more income streams. Restaurants, shops, conference centre. You don't have to look very far to see what we need. Doing up the Mem will be the equivalent of polishing a turd unless they totally demolish it they need to reduce the car park build the main stand there, move the pitch over tear down the rugger stand build a new one, join them together with a "New" North stand and put a smaller stand at the tent end for away supporters. Capacity 17,000. Just 11000 shorter than our neighbours.
Sorry..........................I was dreaming

Sheffield United and even (dare I say it) Bristol City have produced cracking atmospheres the last few times I've seen them on tv. The City games against Wolves and Villa this season were particularly vociferous.
The sooner we get new facilities the better for me and I'm sure we can continue to create a quality atmosphere, perhaps even better with improved acoustics.

The OP needs to go to a part of the ground other than the North Terrace.
Any noise generated there is completely lost in other parts of the ground.
Most games you can only hear the crowd a handful of times.

I agree Hugo. I’m usually in the boxes in the west stand and although you can hear the North terrace sometimes the away fans are louder all game!
What most clubs don’t do, but what I’ve noticed city do when I’ve seen them on tv is not open the top tiers of the stand. They pack as many in on the lower tiers keeping the noise and atmosphere together.

The place on a saturday right now to me seems, much quieter than it has done previous years.
Think a lot of fans are getting fed up with it, turning up every, spending money in the bar, at the food stands, and have that feeling that we are going nowhere.
The ground situation has left most feeling more than just a little disillusioned.

Our ground is an embarrassment, end of story. The facilities for home supporters bordering on the third world and the away facilities definately third world. Our owners need to show some serious intent ( pardon the pun) and show us concrete plans for the Mem ASAP!

Yeah you are right, people keep coming because the current team are likable and DC isnt bad either. We lose DC and i would wager those numbers will drop.

If 8-9000 is considered good, where is this massive fan base that people keep talking about? 8000-9000 may be good for a market town like Shrewsbury, but not for one of England’s larger cities.

If we had a decent stadium it would be 12-13000 I reckon. Crap facilities don’t bother me I love I blackthorn terrace but most aren’t like me.

Was it just me or has it been spruced up a little recently?
Maybe I’m a rose tinter but since the takeover most visits I see small incremental improvements.

Came down today with a couple of Shrewsbury fans and they like the Mem because of it's character. Shame they won for the first time in 50 years.

If our club exists to provide a bit of fun for the supporters, a bit of fun for the owners and a rewarding workplace for the staff then what is the problem with staying at The Mem ?
So long as Dwane Sports are prepared to continue funding the club and the ground is given the kind of gradual improvements which Wael talked about in December I can't see the need for anyone to risk tens of millions on a redevelopment or a new stadium.

If they improve it bit By bit then perhaps within 5- 10 years we’ll have our 20,000 capacity stadium with nice facilities. I’m only 39 so I’m not in the “ it had to be UWE and now it’s not I hate Wael” camp like many of our older supporters are. Our clubs been around for over a hundred years and it’ll still be around in another hundred if planet earth is still capable of football. Put in to perspective our owners have been here 2 years.
