ps. Noticed that Shrewsbury signed Nathan Thomas from Sheffield U. Good signing I would have thought and we’ll have to watch him on Saturday. What do you know about him pirate? I would've liked him here. Tricky player with an eye for goal who can play either side. Impressed me from a distance at Hartlepool.

After all the toys being thrown out of the pram over the past few days I reckon it’s been a good window. Anyone who thought we were going to sign more than what we have done were living in a world other than the real one! We have signed an experienced defender with a great record in this league, an attacking midfielder who can play wing with bags of potential and another more experienced winger who has a good record in the leagues who has a good scoring record. Put that with the contract extensions that have been signed and DC saying 3/4 would be good and he would prefer permanent signings over loans means that he did what he wanted. When you see all the loans that some have done I m pretty pleased. Yes it was done pretty late but we should have been expecting that and if the PL clubs seem to leave it to the last minute with all their resources and having all the people that they do to drive transfers I reckon we did ok with most if it being on DCs shoulders. Well done DC just do the training stuff today and tomorrow! Interesting to see that Exeter were saying how hard it was to get permanent signings and they couldn’t do it and had to just renew two loans. Don’t know what Plymouth did apart from losing Jervis. Perhaps it’s a south west thing and players don’t want to uproot or move away from the big centres. I don’t know it just seems like it wasn’t just us finding it hard. On the other hand perhaps we didn’t find it hard and DC got what he wanted because we know he is very picky about what players he brings into the dressing room. Having been with us in 13/14 when we went out of the league he will place real importance in the idea of a dressing room after what he saw going on then. Only seen Kyle B on TV but some really good goals and did well for Pompey and Paul Cook before losing favour with Jacket. UTG! ps. Noticed that Shrewsbury signed Nathan Thomas from Sheffield U. Good signing I would have thought and we’ll have to watch him on Saturday. What do you know about him pirate? One thing I know is that he hasn't played at all this season for Sheff U - so is going to be a bit rusty !?

I thought he’d played 3/4 matches and scored 2 goals mark but I may be wrong. Either way he will be rusty I would have thought. UTG!

I think there is a lot of truth in that, clubs like shrewsbury didnt seem to have any problems recruiting players. We talk about facilities but location itself seems like it may be a problem for us.

He's got 2 goals in 3 games and also been a regular for them in the Professional Development League. If he plays on Saturday well have to keep a close eye on him because he has an eye for goal. The same for their other signings Sam Jones and Abo Eisa, both have a goal threat.

Yes gas365, Shrewsbury on the edge of the West Midlands lots of clubs with lots of players and probably lots of more reasonably priced houses. I know DC says pay them enough then they’ll come but I guess if money by itself is the driving force of some players then they’re probably not DC kind of players. I don’t know perhaps there’s nothing in it but being near a really large area of clubs like the north west, London area or the West Midlands must make a difference. UTG!

A few posters missing on here this morning who we’re saying last night our board won’t spend any money , DC naive in transfer market , can’t attract any players etc. Looking forward to Shrews UTG
I was one of them, didn't know about Bennett until today but again another uninspiring easy signing.

In truth it is much easier for Shrewsbury to sign players-better ground, great position in the League with promotion a real possibility and lots more teams around them. As regards the window as a whole I feel a lot happier than yesterday afternoon where it looked like we were going to see no additions and a whole load of excuses. I just hope that despite some good results we actually see these players start. Squad has a much better look to it now.
Smith
Bola Broadbent Craig Brown
Lines
Sercombe Sinclair Bennett
Gaffney Harrison
Subs Slocombe Mensah O Clarke Sweeney Telford Partington Nicholls
This is assuming that Lockyer is injured still.

Bodin , Sinclair , Mansel , Taylor the list could go on were all uninspiring easy transfers at the time.

There are just as many who didn't work out, hopefully these newbies will be added to your list but I have my doubts.
We will see some decent new signings on Saturday but unfortunately they will be playing for Shrewsbury.

Got a fantastic eye for a player has Paul Hurst. Really impressed with the business he has done the past two windows.

I'm still trying to work out who or why we we were judging DC anyway.

Not wanting this to sound wrong, as i do like your tips on players - but if we signed all the players you recommend, we'd have a squad of about a hundred!

Yeah he has signed quite a few I recommended to Rovers but Nolan is the one who would have ticked all the boxes for us, plus Stefan Payne i've tracked since his Hornchurch days.
I didn't really think much of him as a manager until now, but really impressed with the quality of his signings for a club like Shrewsbury.

I don't want us to sign all the players I mention, most I just want us to scout and have a closer look at. If we had done that we could have had players like Charlie Austin, Jamie Vardy, Dwight Gayle, Aden Flint, Marc Roberts and Sean Raggett, all players the club were tipped off about before they went for big money.

I'd be surprised if anyone wanted to lay into DC, he is the biggest asset the club has. I dread to think who he would be replaced by if he left.

Not his fault but he doesn't seem to have many contacts in the game and/or scouts helping to identify players.
