Well really the season is over for us apart from a few glamour games, all of which we will probably lose. Anyway with this in mind what do we need to be better? For me its a midfielder who can control the game, and tackle! Also a new right and left back although I'd be happy if we could keep Bola. Our success in the future requires us to start being tight at the back. DC's attitude of scoring more than the opposition is good but when you keep losing your best players up front then it starts to unravel. I'd be happy if we could sign two new strikers one Dom Telford? And one as a replacement for Harrison next January. I'd also like to see a few of our development squad step up.
Meanwhile to go. It would not surprise me if any of the following were to go Clarke (the defender!). Gaffney, Sinclair (as he will be over 30, and he is beginning to suffer from a lot of injuries lately)

I'd like to sign a left back, right back, centre back, defensive midfielder, winger and a striker (two if Gaffney leaves).
I'd let the following players depart:
Bola, Telford, Sweeney, Gaffney, James Clarke, Moore, Burn.

Agree with that, I would also try to offload Nichols and if an offer comes in for undroppable Tom, I would take what ever that offer is. He has clearly struggled at this level.

I'm in two minds about Nichols, whether to persist with him until next January or let him go now. If someone came in with a decent enough offer I'd probably let him go, although we're unlikely to recoup the money we paid for him (whatever that was).

Keep both keepers? I personally think they are both adequate for this level, although there are four or five keepers I'd prefer in an ideal world.

Question to ask - if all these players were released by other clubs would DC want to sign any of them? - probably not IMO but for different reasons. With so many contracts up for renewal I feel DC is in a strong but difficult position now to weed out who has to go.

I would keep Browner, but bring in quality competition for the LB position. I still feel Linesy has enough quality to do a job for another year, although at the same time it wouldn't surprise me if he moved on this summer. It's certainly going to be an interesting summer seeing who is coming and going.

Don't we have a few more weeks of complaining about how disloyal players are before we need to chat about which ones to dump?

The beard, gaffney,j Clarke,Moore, burn, sweeney, bola, leads all must go if we want to progress we then need to hear the news the ground will be revamped or new stadium plus the training ground gets underway,DC stays and they give him a decent budget.

Why do we need a big clear out of players ? This group have proved they are good enough to finish in top half of this division so surely we need to be adding to what we have rather than shipping out 6 or 7 as some have suggested. Assuming we don't sign any of the current loan players I'd be looking to sign a left back, central midfielder, winger & 2 strikers permanently with any gaps made up from the development squad, I don't see the need for any loans unless they are going to be regular starters.

I'd be very surprised if we had a big clear out like last year. As you say we have decent squad with prospects for the future e.g Broadbent, Mensah and others coming through from the development squad like Russe, Hargreaves and let's not forget Mayo! I think DC will look to add rather than take away. IMO we definately need that elusive CDM and a tall striker to help Ellis out up front. Any loans going back would also need to be replaced. Much as Nichols has not impressed to date I fully expect DC to stick by his man, he's not one for giving up that easy and he clearly sees something in him. Given his track record of nurturing talent (a la snake and Bodin) I back him to do the same with Nico.

Why keep unwanted players who just make up the squad? so you would keep burn,Moore,j Clarke who ain’t contributed virtually all season? Then when the loans go back that’s 6 players including the above they then all free up wages for new faces

If we go for too big a change in the summer then we could easily lose the squad ethos that DC has spent 4 years building. We did that before in Summer 2010 (I think without checking) and it went very wrong. PT got rid of the wrong players and replaced them with more expensive but lesser players! Imo, of course! 3/4 new signings that go in the first team, a defender, a midfielder and two forwards, supplemented by the best of the development squad would be good. And who we get rid of will be determined by which ones are out of contract I suppose. UTG!

Agree. We know what we're like. Get rid of six, bring in one or two (not the ones we really wanted, because they won't come) then we, the fans moan right through to January about how bad everything is, and how we never planned for people leaving...

Hope James Clarke stays.Reliable if unspectacular.Never lets us down but appreciate there is a question mark about his fitness. His best games for me were at Walsall last season when overall we were dreadful-Snakey's last goal for us I think-and the previous season at Mansfield when he set up the 94th minute winner.
