The amount of time managers hold on to their jobs are short nowadays. DC is 7th in the table for longest serving manager at current club. Just a matter of time really. But at least we should get a good fee for him if a club wants him (you know, the standard £300k release clause). Instead of a rolling 12 month contract he has a long term contract. Praise to Wael for getting this done. I am sure though some will moan about this like if we sack him then it will be a big pay off so club will lose money. If DC were sacked he'd only get one years pay off. It's standard now in Manager's Contracts. Let's use Paul Hurst as an example. One good season in Div 1, and he's off to the Championship. I didnt realise that was standard in managers contract. I thought if a manager his a fair few years left of his contract, it will cost more for the buying club to get his services, like how it is for players. Cheers for that info.

Pretty sure we just a football club sailing along virtually most other lower league clubs, it's the constant drip, drip, feed of the "ciders" who make fans think we're about to capsize. Perhaps we're not going to get a new stadium but at least we don't seem hours away from admin and, at long last, some money is being spent on the Mem plus we have a good manager and a decent playing squad. Who knows we might also actually get decent shirt sponsors this season. But for how long will DC put up with the situation? At the end of the day if his ambition is greater than the club's he will leave, but you can't expect the ALQ's (or any new potential owners) just to spend £xm building a new stadium just to keep one person happy and in the process potentially bankrupt the club. Although the fact DC's still here suggest he accepts the ALQ's are dong all they can, even if the "ciders" can't accept that.

Ive heard people say this before but it dosnt make sense to me. Why would dc bother signing a contract that only benefited the club and not him? If a manager decided not to work i reckon he could stay at home and collect his pay for the full length of his deal. By all means point me to evidence that proves otherwise.

But none of us know the realistic one so there may be no situation at all!
I think there in lie's the whole point of this thread. I don't think its the club that needs to change it's us, the supporters, because we rightly don't know all the ins and outs anymore.
It's not like under Higgs when everybody was in the know, even blokes down the pub who supported man united and my mum who can't stand football even knew what was happening down the Rovers before it became officially public. But as pointed out before, because we're ran by professionals now who don't tell every man and his dog the ins and outs, the people who enjoyed that sense of knowingness and felt closer to the club are now starting to say anything and everything to receive the same limelight. It being the summer and no football on probably doesn't help either.
All I can say to those people is...find a different hobby... I know I previously criticised love island, but the preview for tonight's episode is Adam has upset Rosie somehow and left us on a major cliffhanger!!! Don't knock it till you've tried it...
I've never understood blokes writing off Love Island. Its one hour of hot women in bikinis. What other TV show with that as its primary content will your Mrs be happy for you to have on?

For the love of god, surely this deserves a ban, or at the very least a suspension from the Bloke's Club !

Who in their right minds would sign such a contract, basically you have to work for your employer's for 5 years, if you like it or not, but they can sack you with a years notice. What's in for DC more than the usual one year rolling contract would give him? Its utter nonsense! Although I guess this also fits with the present anti Wael/the ALQ's agenda.

Wow. I didn't think it was possible to make your argument less compelling or less coherent but you've managed it. Ok lets keep it simple and see if we can get to the bottom of this. You've been arguing until you were blue in the face with me that you've never said the family don't have the funds to run the club. So since you acknowledge that they do (because I'm a liar for saying that you said they don't remember) what's your problem with the spending (keeping in mind why I'm a liar ... y'know because you've never said they haven't got the funds to meet it)? Wow Jeremy, why don't you ask a coherent question and I'll give you a coherent answer. Both Severncider and I get accused of saying things we haven't. Fake news or what? In in a nutshell, you recently queried why when I said the club ran short of funds to pay the players, you compared it to the fact that I said they couldn't afford to build a £50m stadium. What relevance was one to the other? Ask a civil question and i'll give a civil answer.

Money does get moved about. Trouble is, a lot of the clubs money gets shifted to DS, and then we have to ask for it back. It is not in the clubs name, because if it was it would need to be show in the accounts. My issue is that we again this year have gone on a needless spending spree, i.e. The bars and the shop, together with the new family stand. Massive outlay and we have a miserable budget in league 1. I'd rather see the money spent on the team. You’re actually going to criticise the club for listening to supporter feedback and spending money to improve the match day experience of the club? It’s not a massive outlay, it’s a minor one which will pay itself off and I think the club should be applauded for taking the initiative and thinking about the fans. Any other bits of good work done by the Al Qadi’s that you want to twist to suit your agenda? Not a massive outlay? How much do you reckon?

What relevance was one to the other? Ask a civil question and i'll give a civil answer. Since we're talking about "fake news" I said no such thing. YOU stated in response to another poster that you had never said the Al Qadis did not have sufficient funds to run the club. I quoted one of YOUR POSTS stating "they" did not have sufficient funds to build THE COLONY. Your own estimate of the cost of the Colony is £5m . Given that £5m would cover about 2 years worth of operating losses I think the relevance of that to the day to day running of the club is pretty obvious.

Although one minute it's "new owners please" as they aren't spending money on a new ground etc, next it's why are the owners spending money when we're about to go bust, your just like a woman with PMT impossible to please.
