I thought Sercombe had an outstanding season at Rovers, and Bennett was a close second.

Lines will be the big one to replace in my view, we never replaced him when he left and we're never the same team when he doesn't start. Perhaps Upson will be his long term replacement.
As far as Harrison I sense he'd be a bit of a gamble for another club to play big money for him, as you never know how he'd fit in at another club, unlike Locks.

I've got a good feeling about Sam Matthews and think he will be a player we will struggle to keep hold of in the not too distant future. I dont think we should put too much pressure on the lad, but I've seen the majority of his goals and highlights from his loans at Eastleigh and he looks technically adept, creative, decent off both feet and a goal threat.

In terms of potential value it has to be Ellis and Locks as younger players with already lots of experience and good records. For example, captaincy and international experience for Locks, goals for Ellis. They are both one impressive run of form away from being worth a lot of money and hence I really hope we can get Ellis tied down to another couple of years shortly.

Agree on Matthews. Think there’s the potential for us to see some lovely football played at times this season between the likes of Sercombe, Bennett, Lines, Matthews etc.

We are in debt to Ellis, his goal at Wembley got us extra time and penalties and out of non league. I think he has matured as person and developed into a good striker.Hope this is not true, UTG

Appearances - yes Locks made a lot but doesn't get goals compared to many other CBs, whereas, Ellis has never made a lot of appearances (starting) until this last one. Ellis' scoring record isn't that great - good that he got 13 last season but that's hardly setting the league alight, it's simply been a much better all -round Ellis compared to previous seasons.

I agree that his all round game is what was most impressive but managers will also look at the stats. Ellis has over 50 goals for us and is 24. That’s not bad at all, he seems to be progressing and like I say, that allied to a purple patch of form would put him on a lot of managers’ radars in my view. He is potentially of significant value. You're right about his all round game and there is plenty of development and room for improvement still to come hopefully. Strong, powerful, quick, good in the air and an improving finisher. When I say good in the air, I mean he wins quick a few flick ons and is excellent in our box defensively, but could do with scoring more regularly with his head.

Ellis contributes in more an more ways as hes matured. His work rate, his goal scoring, his attacking qualities (inc. winning vital free kicks) an not ta be forgotten - th fact he can often be our best defender ffs!
I chuffkin love th kid, partly cause hes a rough diamond a bit like most of us.
'mon th Ellis!

He is 4 years younger and has much more room for improvement. Taylor's record in League One is 29 goals from 156 games and Harrison's is 20 goals from 82 games.

You can only really compare goal stats by using minutes on the pitch as substitute appearances account for varying amounts appearances player to player.

Overall, I would prefer Ellis to LT and your stats pirate backs that up. Hoping that now he’s gone to Charlton we can forget about him and move on. Wouldn’t have been right for us. UTG!

"Don't believe any stats actually, just believe what you think. " Donald Trump. Says Drumpf who tweeted an image packed with racially loaded and incorrect murder statistics from a 'Crime Statistics Bureau' that doesn’t actually exist.

Clubs will probably just look to sign Ellis on the cheap in January with him being out of contract next summer.

I just text my contact and he reckons Blackburn were actually looking to pay £750k plus add ons this summer. In today's market with a player on a decent contract we should be looking at 3 times that amount. Let's learn from the past and get him tied down!

I would take £875,000 for Ellis...snap their hands off...if they want to gamble on a player that’s has one decent season then let them...if it came off no one would say two seasons ago we would get more for Ellis than billy bob or the snake... It’s not true but i would take the money and we could get a good replacement with that
