I would take £875,000 for Ellis...snap their hands off...if they want to gamble on a player that’s has one decent season then let them...if it came off no one would say two seasons ago we would get more for Ellis than billy bob or the snake... It’s not true but i would take the money and we could get a good replacement with that Out of interest when did we last sign a decent striker with the proceeds of a sale? We sold Roberts and Cureton and finished up relagated, likewise Lambert, and we didn't get very far with the money Buckle received from Will Hoskins sale. I guess the best of the lot is Taylor's transfer funded Nichols arrival!

just did a little check goals and appearances. Ellis 44 goals in 176 games since 2011 for The Gas Lyle Taylor 44 goals in 133 games in 3 seasons for Wimbledon. Stats - who cares really, but in all comps it’s definitely over 50 as it was commented on during the last season. Even if we take just the league, a massive amount of Ellis’ 176 games are sub appearances in the early days so probably similar mins per goal to Taylor. Lots of different ways of chopping an onion! I’m quite impressed by his stats even if you’re not Lyle Taylor’s too! We can’t afford him apparently, so surely Ellis won’t come cheap if people want him. It's really interesting how people come on here and start shooting from the hip about what another supporter thinks (or more accurately what they believe they think !) I put up some stats, which are accurate, for everyone to have a look at and compare if they wished. Enjoy the summer. adios.

I think I had the right to reply after you questioned my assertion that he had scored over 50 goals. He has scored 52 goals for us in all competitions from 212 appearances, but as I tried to get across, it really doesn’t matter. Either figure shows that his stats are pretty good. I tried to put that reply in a good natured way that avoided conflict (this obviously backfired) and then compared your stats with Lyle Taylor as quoted anyway, thus comparing as I wished - just like you said we should. It’s hard to ascertain a tone from text alone. Maybe I didn’t get how I wanted to say it across properly but in my head this was a good natured discussion and I’m a bit shocked by your reaction.

And i was arguing what a good player hes been for rovers before the season started. If the club took £875,000 for ellis we might just as well all pack it in and do something else imo.

Carayol for example was a good player if he felt like it but he couldn't get away quick enough. I wouldn't have him back, but would love it if we could tie Ellis down for a couple of more seasons. DC has proven record in getting his players playing as a team & I would take that any day rather than see the likes of Carayol & O'Toole as examples

Interesting point. Who is our most valuable player / the one we least would want to leave ? When Bodin was here it was easy IMO. But now, I'm not sure I'd say either Harrison or Lockyer. I couldn't pick anyone who stands out for me from the rest. Sercombe and Bennett stand out for me. Yep sercombe and Bennet are our most gifted footballers in my opinion. Ellis has got better at holding the ball and not ending up on his arse but hasn’t done enough to make it in the championship yet and Lockyer is an average 1 Center defender who got a mistake in him too often for my liking.

I hope ellis stays with us. He played a big part in 2 promotions and right now is arguably our best player. Money and ambition talks but i doubt very much that we will able to replace him at any price that is realistically possible for our club to receive for him. I think most opponents managers team talks revolve around ellis when they play us. Just my view. Interesting point. Who is our most valuable player / the one we least would want to leave ? When Bodin was here it was easy IMO. But now, I'm not sure I'd say either Harrison or Lockyer. I couldn't pick anyone who stands out for me from the rest. Ellis without a shadow.

Disagree- Elis’ hold up play has become a strength. He just needs to work on getting in the box more so he can score.

I think 875K would be very good for Ellis.

Like i said he has got better at holding up the ball therefore we agree it’s become a strength but is he really good enough for the championship ? I’m not convinced he is although of course someone from that division might want him. I think hed be better off for his development continuing to improve at Rovers than sit in the reserves at a championship side but we all know money talks.

Irrespective of what anyone on this site thinks, if Ellis goes, he goes! Whether he is worth it or whether we have made money from a dud/one season wonder, he has done this club proud and we should be very grateful to him because one thing is for sure: If he had not scored that goal at Wembley, we would not be in the respectable position we are now! Whatever your future: Thanks very much Ellis

Interesting. The Tractor club were willing to pay £2m for Mattee Tee. Before BCFC82 offered him double the wages. Wonder how much they will offer for Ellis?

As I've said before it is a million+ we would be daft to say no really. We could sign 2 or 3 good players with that money.
I would expect it to be invested back into the side immediately too, not make do with players on frees.

I really think the transfer market is like the housing chain. We may/may not have had bids come in or bids made STC for many players
