There are better than Ellis Harrison in my humble opinion, the only drawback for Rovers is getting someone better.... PS I'd rather have Ellis than Tom, as things stand but I STILL WON'T LOSE SLEEP WITH ELLIS GOES. I didn't see many visit the Mem last year that were better.

Looks like it. No mention of an injury by DC. We will almost certainly know on Monday when he either does or does not travel to Holland.

DC did say one or 2 strikers were injured, but didn't say if Ellis was one of them. Might be off, but wouldn't trust the post. They named the wrong player last week, then listed us as scoring 7!

The club will be gutted that this has got out before the open day. I don’t mean that as a dig. Just means loads of difficult questions to answer when it may not be a done deal yet. The problem with losing Ellis and potentially Locks, is it would rip out a big part of the soul of what we’ve achieved in recent years. Their losses would be huge, but could it be part of an overall plan if we get good money for them? Say we coined in £2 - £3 million for the pair and maintained a mid-table position this year without spending too much, that might be ideal for the owners with future planning in mind. I’m playing devil’s advocate to a certain extent. We may end up keeping both, but the reason it’s a big possibility is that Locks’ market value must be pretty big considering he just signed a new contract.
All that said, we can continue to progress on the field even if we do lose those two. Look to 1990 for inspiration. We lost Penrice and Martyn and won the championship. Why? Because we had a manager right at the top of his game, a well organised and effective team and excellent team spirit. Anything is possible.

I'd agree if NH was still in charge but surely the ALQ's want more out of Rovers than simply tread water in Div 1, I guess we'll find out for certain in the next couple of weeks.

Certainly sounds like he's off. DC clearly didn't want to talk about it and made no mention of an injury like he did when asked about Reilly.
As I said before, this will be a bigger loss than Taylor or Bodin in my opinion. Nichols will be lucky to get 3 or 4 based on last season and the open goal he missed today, and Reilly is completely untested at this level. Harrison is the only striker capable of holding up the ball, the only striker quick enough to run past defenders, the only striker strong enough to hold off defenders, the only striker capable of playing up front on his own and the only striker capable of winning a header. He also scored twice as many goals as other other strikers last season and won more headers defending set pieces than all our defenders put together.
Can anyone tell me where we might be able to find a like for like replacement for under 500k because I can't see us spending more than that on one player?
Without a like for like replacement we will almost certainly be facing a huge battle to stay in L1.

The new kit probably convinced him to go! Hope we're not on TV next season...can see the commentators struggling with "Rovers playing in their traditional blue and white uneven fractioned shirts get the game underway...."

I was at Forest Green today and Nichols managed to miss an open goal by 10 yards and Mensah offered no threat what soever. We had no shots of merit on goal in 90 mins. I know that this won’t be our first team, but we still need a striker or two who can exploit the creativeness of Bennet, Sercombe, Upsonn or Mathews. No one today was in the same class.

If we get what he’s worth then so be it, at least it would finally be some value for us.
Although it really does leave us in a horrible postition

........or tomorrow, if he's not at the Open Day................... True Unless he’s away for personal reasons. Nah he’s gone. Good luck to the kid. He did well last season but if we get good money which allows us to get 2 new in then this may be a blessing.

Exactly, but also- the faith shown by DC in Elis has been huge. Perhaps- a thank you 6 months would be appropriate and correct. It’s a long way back, if you make the wrong move. It’s not personal against Taylor- because I genuinely believe he could/ maybe still will make it at the championship level. But: he made the wrong move. 18 months on- very few starts, rumoured to be a make weight in moves to bring others in. Elis should stay with D.C. one more block.
