If he goes he goes. Not too worried to be honest , he scorec( I think?) 14 league goals. He’s got a yr left on his contract so best cash in now imo . This is the way things will always play out until / if we ever grow as a club.

If his contract is up next summer and he won’t extend, its best to cash in now rather than have another bodin/Taylor situation and he goes for £100k in January.
Obviously I would rather he stay, as someone has already stated there’s a lot more to Ellis’ game then his goals.

Maybe his new supporters will appreciate him a bit more than some of ours.

I hope I'm proved wrong but I fear those that think he's no great loss are in for a rude awakening this season.
Ellis is so much more than just a goalscorer. We look punchless up front whenever he's not in the team and finding someone that offers everything he does will be nigh on impossible.
I personally wouldn't swap him for any other striker in L1. There may be better footballers or techinically better players but the overall qualities Ellis brings make him our most important player in my opinion.
I can't think of anyone who we could realistically get who would bring as much to the team.

He’s also a massive part of the dressing room, many players mention him in their interviews and he works his socks off every time he plays. Now he’s adapted to L1 and has started to add goals to his game, we need to keep him at all costs.

Not at the cost of ''keeping him here against his will''.

I agree he's good at defending , but that's not really what you look for in a forward is it ? I agree he's a good character as others have said, also his link up play is ok ..... But not great. A forwards job is to to stick the ball in the net , hopefully 20 plus times a season. He's got a yr left on his contract which is the elephant in the room! Cash in now or risk him going for peanuts. Just my opinion guys.

He will probably go just before the end of the transfer window, along with Lockyer!
In Nichols we trust!

Maybe his new supporters will appreciate him a bit more than some of ours. He’s appreciated just not indispensable, I’m a big fan of Harrison but if he wants out let him go and cash in. Think he’s a decent league 1 player no doubting that but I’m not so sure he will cut the mustard in the championship. And until we become more successful and climb the leagues bigger teams will continue to take our assets , we like always will move on and find other talents.

Certainly sounds like he's off. DC clearly didn't want to talk about it and made no mention of an injury like he did when asked about Reilly. As I said before, this will be a bigger loss than Taylor or Bodin in my opinion. Nichols will be lucky to get 3 or 4 based on last season and the open goal he missed today, and Reilly is completely untested at this level. Harrison is the only striker capable of holding up the ball, the only striker quick enough to run past defenders, the only striker strong enough to hold off defenders, the only striker capable of playing up front on his own and the only striker capable of winning a header. He also scored twice as many goals as other other strikers last season and won more headers defending set pieces than all our defenders put together. Can anyone tell me where we might be able to find a like for like replacement for under 500k because I can't see us spending more than that on one player? Without a like for like replacement we will almost certainly be facing a huge battle to stay in L1. hahha he isn’t that good, cash in when we can I say Come on - name a Rovers forward in the last 20 years who could reliably win a flick-on ...

Just my opinion guys. In the real world how many strikers actually score 20 goals at this level? Over the past couple of seasons there have been 5. One of those cost £1.2mil, one cost £600k and another one cost £450k.

Even in his best season so far, I felt that Ellis was still blowing hot and cold. He barely had a shot on goal during his last 6 or 7 home games. His last home league goal was 24th February,
I'm sure we can replace him, and especially if you're just looking to replace his non goalscoring duties.

If he goes it will be to a skint championship club,a club that has money will buy much better quality he’s a average l1 player at best Ellis made you and plenty of other posters look like complete idiots last season with his fantastic performances. Good luck to him if he goes a great football club like ipswich town or blackburn rovers but i very much hope he stays. Ps i already knew you were wrong about him anyway and so did many others.

Ellis was our most consistent player last season. Where has this hot and cold nonsense come from? I think the previous Ellis is tainting your views of how he was last season there. I wasn't bothered about Gaffney going at the time but with Ellis potentially going in the same summer then that would be pretty disastrous and very risky.

I would take 875K for Ellis. Struggle to see how people think he's worth a lot more.

No, I thought that Ellis was unplayable at his best last season, and we saw about 4 months of that, but he definitely went off the boil once defenders started giving him extra attention. I've always been a fan of his, accepting that he needed time to mature as a player, and to learn his trade.

It wouldn't be ideal but if we we still had Gaffney it wouldn't mean he's score anymore goals, just take up more wages. Hopefully we can get 2 strikers in the building before the season starts if this does happen. Would be nice if one of them at least has a record of scoring consistently
